My Weird Commercial crushes

I am smitten by this Deal Dash lady:

I don’t recall ever seeing a Kohl’s commercial, but after looking, yes I was very appreciative of Ellie Kemper in The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

I never got that one. Part of it might be my contempt for AT&T, but she really never checked any boxes for me.

I heard that the company had to retire Erin because of all the ‘Rule 34’ style Erin Esurance fan art that proliferated online.

Am I going to actually admit my recent weird cartoon commercial crush? I mean, not really a crush, but I kinda like the ‘hot librarian’ look that pink cardigan and glasses lady is rocking in this Asthma medicine commercial. I also admire her can-do attitude, not letting asthma stop her from living life. You go, girl!

I know… s w o o o n…

Decades ago, there was a tourism commercial for Brazil and it opened with the most beautiful woman I have ever seen walking up the beach toward camera. She said one line and was done. Bikini bottoms, denim shirt with sleeves rolled up and tied off midriff and more luxurious hair than one lady should be allowed to have.

Kinda feels like that bit in Citizen Kane where the fellow reminisces about the girl he saw on the ferry.

I never made it to Brazil.

This is close to how Michael Caine met his wife.

Sir Michael Caine is an absolute acting legend, known for his wide range of roles from serious dramas to comic-book movies. As it turns out, though, his real life is more cinematic than we could have imagined. Caine has been married to Guyanese actress and model Shakira Caine (previously Shakira Baksh) since 1973, and the way they met is straight out of a Hollywood showbiz rom-com.

Back in 1971, Shakira starred in a British commercial for Maxwell House coffee. Caine saw the commercial and thought she was “the most beautiful [woman] he had ever seen.” Caine planned to actually fly to wherever she lived to meet her, but he found out she actually lived in London - and they had a mutual friend in the advertising business who was able to connect them.

The couple married in 1973…

Take heart, everyone with commercial crushes!

:revolving_hearts:

(Grumble, grumble) Michael Caine has HIS beautiful lady. The bastard. (Grumble, grumble)

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Besides being sweet and kind , she’s built like a Pixar mom.

I like him too! He has kind of a Dr Abbot, from The Pitt, vibe.

I posted this in 2013, and I stand by it.

I remember having a man-crush on Dean Winters when he played Denis Leary’s brother on Rescue Me

I think the T-Mobile motorcycle rider (Carly Foulkes) deserves a mention here.

I don’t think it’s weird at all (I’m probably not the only one) but I could watch the Old Spice “The man your man could smell like” commercials all day. And when they came out, I kind of did.

Holy cow, it’s been 16 years!

mine is Cassandra Liveris from the Insure on the Spot commercials and billboards around Chicago.

I kind of have a thing for the new Progressive lady, Mara. She’s the short woman with the raspy voice. Here’s the Progressive dog park commercial with her in it.

I totally get it. I go from adoring her to being repulsed by her. I really liked the one a few years ago where she persistently jump scared the Progressive customer.

TIL Insurance is a sexier business than I gave it credit for.

I don’t think I’ve seen any of her Kohl’s commercials, but upon learning it’s Ellie Kemper, yes, I do have a celebrity crush on Ellie Kemper. I just know her from The Office and Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt, so I don’t think of it as a “commercial crush”.

Wasn’t that version of the commercial a famous (at the time) singer?
