My wife & dogs are on the tube tomorrow.

They’re going to be on the HGTV show “Crafter’s Coast to Coast”.

Major disclaimer: she’s not half as goofy as they make her out to be. They made her do things like stand at the front door and go, “My name is Blah Blah and this is my house. Come on in,” as she sweeps her arm through the air.

She’s also coming at it from a different angle. Some of the people on the show are about a notch above making shrinky dinks, or gluing macaroni to construction paper. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but making jewelry is actually the wife’s business. It’s not “craft” for her. It’s 40 hours a week, sanding, cutting, welding, designing while shipping and receiving, tracking her accounts, doing retail shows, etc.

If you had any questions about the taping, I may be able to answer them.

I think they got some funny shots of the dogs.

Aww…I wish I got HGTV, that sounds really cool!

I’ll check it out.

Yeah, we don’t even get HGTV. Someone’s TIVO’ing it for us and making us a DVD from it.

The show is kind of goofy. They’ll probably show all these clips of Baltimore, though.

They shot while I was at work. When I came home they were still shooting but they wouldn’t let me be in it. They thought that it would be out of place if I just showed up part way through.

Any way she can get on Style Network’s Craft Corner Deathmatch too? The finals, where the winner goes up against the Craft Lady of Steel, are hilarious.

Any more details about which episode it exactly is?

Personally, I don’t watch those shows, but my roommate records them relentlessly. Sometimes it seems like he gets four of the episodes per day.

I wouldn’t mind watching this episode (without my roommate’s knowledge, he’d never let me hear the end of it if I admitted to watching one of these shows), if I knew more about how to figure out which one it is.

link.

She’s in Baltimore, making a ring.

Good God, I love this show! I want there to be hundreds and hundreds of them, just so I can sate my Jason Jones jones!

I’ll try and catch your wife, Trunk. I’m a jewelry maker, too, so I’m interested in her work.

Trunk! Your wife is talented and lovely! I took the morning off yesterday, and luckily caught this when I got home. She was so much better than the other two loons on her segment. That ring and bracelet were absolutely gorgeous! I’m putting together a DVD of segments from DIY’s Jewelry Making (in spite of my utter loathing for the repulsively gushy host Jackie Guerrrrrrrrrrra), and your wife’s clip is going on as the first track. I learned a lot from her. Does she have a website?

Oh, the pooches are sweet, too! And I love your house!

Yikes, now I’m gushing! :smack:

Wow, that was all very nice of you to say.

Funny enough, we haven’t seen it yet. We don’t get HGTV and this guy taped it for us and told us he was going to bring it over last night and he never did. A couple people called and said that it wasn’t as goofy as we thought it would be.

She has a website. It’s not set up for sales or as a catalog or anything. There are a few good reasons why she doesn’t want all her designs out there (*). It’s mostly information about shows/galleries/etc. I just realized I need to update her upcoming shows.

That bracelet won her a big award this year. The ring is more of an artistic stand-alone piece, but the bracelet is the focal point of one of her lines.

(*) At a show this year, there was a big display about Chinese rip-offs of handmade crafts. There have been lawsuits against Target, for example, for selling rip-offs. Any artist with sales is basically forced to copyright everything nowadays. It’s a shame. Sometimes people come up to her at shows and ask to take pictures of the work. It might be innocent, but she just doesn’t allow it.
