My world has come to an end or college football will never be the same.

Hell yes! UGA grad here; we have GOT to win the Florida game this year. If only we’d won it last year… snif

Then again, living in Tennessee, it has been nice to watch us whip the Vols a couple years running now.

Razorbacks fan checking in. I miss them whipping up on all those Texas teams in the old SWC.

Anyway, I think the college game in general is declining because too many of the best players skip to the pros early and the pro game is evolving more quickly. Plus, pro action is far superior, unless you enjoy seeing missed tackles and wobbly passes. Add to that the transparent greed and of the whole bowl thing and the silly politics and I’m pretty much tuned out. It’s getting like boxing.:frowning:

Still, I do get the urge at times in the fall to go

WOOOOOOOOOOO PIG SOOIE!

Has anyone ever done a study of pre-season polls compared to their eventual outcomes? I would imagine they’re still rather skewed in favor of the pre-season poll, because by about week four the top ten are locked in and only replaced by individual teams’ losses. I remember one year when UVa was stunned by an early-season loss and struggled all season to creep back into the top 20, much to my father’s consternation.

As a Hokie fan myself, I’m hoping that Marcus Vick is taking his calcium pills, because with Virginia Tech’s ridiculously easy early schedule I expect him to see a lot of second-half playing time early in the season. Hell, if they can beat Miami (for once) on November 1, I’m taking my brass knuckles to Dad’s place for Thanksgiving, just in case.

The future ACC is unusually well represented in the ESPN poll this year. I can’t help but think that’s a result of all the off-season attention that conference garnered as a result of the Miami-VT defection from the Big East.

Waaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr EEEaaaaaaaggllllleeeeeeeeeeee - YEAH!

I was lucky enough to choose Fall 93 to go and study in Auburn and be a part of their best season in years - – 11 and 0, 11 and 0!!

Beating the Crimson Tide (22-14 as I recall) in a packed Jordan-Hare stadium remains the best sporting occasion of my life (and fortunately I still have the video of the season). And all this coming from a soccer-loving Brit that had never actually watched American Football (or listened to Country Music, come to think of it) before that memorable year.

The Buckeyes will repeat as National Champions.

The rest of ya should get used to being disappointed.

Go Buckeyes!!!

You might be right spooge, that is if Mo Clarette can find his way to a classroom.

Don’t give up on Minnesota, they are loaded in the backfield and the Gophers aren’t afraid of anything.

Except lawn mowers.

BooHoo.

I went to this game:

As a season ticket holder and a student. I helped tear down the goalposts and carry them througfh town with topless girls riding them (true). It was a great season, except for the last minute and 16 seconds. Jake Plummer should have won the Heisman that year.

The Nebraska game was sweet revenge for the year before, when we lost by something like 60 points.

I don’t think so! The Suckeyes will win their first 11 games, but then they have to go to Ann Arbor. It will be just like the good old days. Undefeated Michigan vs. undefeated Ohio State, with the Big Ten and National championships on the line.

The Wolverines will beat the Suckeyes, then win the NC against, oh I don’t know, maybe Tennessee would be nice. We owe the Vols for the bowl game a couple of years ago.

Add me to the list of those who are perfectly happy seeing the Nebraska Cornsuckers not doing well. The real 1997 National Champions are and will always be Michigan. The Cornsuckers would have lost to Michigan, with Charles Woodson running circles around the fat boys in red and white.

Jerrybear’s prediction is, in fact, the correct one. The Buckeye’s will leave the big house this year battered and bruised from the combined effect of Chris Perry and the best O-line in the country. then, just to add insult to injury, Marlin Jackson will assault several of their players in the parking lot.

Go Blue!!!
