Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

No, I don’t believe one of them is a real Seer, at the very least.

No, I believe at least one of them is scum.

I mentioned that possibility before even mentioning the Dethy setup.

I never said that.

I accepted the idea of redirectors.

Never made that assumption.

Yeah, but I think other folks shouldn’t assume things like we have 5 true cops without examining the likelihood, and I also think people shouldn’t wagon one suspect and not discuss alternatives.

You know, patience and an open mind. Same criticism for me, applies to everyone.

huh again? No, I did not deny that feeling safe is the same as being protected. Where on earth are you getting this s**t?

Death Miller?

Do I even want to know?

Anyway, my head has been hurting for the last hour or so, it’s time for me to call it a night. : p

No. This is not the safe bet. I haven’t read Dethy, so I have no idea if Gadarene was in there, but I’m betting not. How is it safer to assume that Gadarene’s game is closer in structure to some random game than the game this particular game is modeled after?

It’s good to ask questions, and to disbelieve claims that requite extraordinary evidence, but you’re really stretching here.

I also have to take an idea and champion it, because when the grand majority of the players feel one way, the only way alternatives get seriously discussed is if there’s a number of posts dedicated to that point of view.

I guarantee you, if I hadn’t questioned this gnarlycharlie thing, gnarly would be sitting with 15-20 votes right now and none of this pertinent skepticism-based discussion would have occurred.

That’s dangerous.

Yes, I didn’t mean to make this an attack on your statements. I agree that we can’t assume anything. But, along those lines, I don’t think we can’t assume the number of seers we have, and I am much more hesitant to believe in the quite symmetrical deathy arrangement, as I am to some odd combination of powers and fake powers.

I understand that you don’t believe now, but I repeat for posterity that Weedy receieved correct results on me.

Dethy isn’t a random setup, it’s a game setup that has been done hundreds and hundreds of times on a hundred different forums for mafia.

It’s the most common setup which involves multiple detectives. For a game host to make a game of all-night-action roles, and not at least **some **include the cop variants, is more unusual.

It’s stretching to believe all 5 are true cops. That’s what’s stretching plausibility.

I’ve recently gotten moved in to my new place.

Have loads to catch up on here. I’m going to reread fully before making comments since its so many pages I have to go through. Might not make it all the way through until morning, but will get through it prior to eod.

Sorry for being useless an entire game day

I tell you what though, I do learn from my mistakes. I’ve been loud and I’ve put the idea out there, and you’re aware of it. It’s time for me to shut up so people can think and stuff.

See? I’m learning.

Anyone wants me to speak, speak directly to me and ask a question. Otherwise I’m going into shut up so people can think mode.

Pizza, while you are floundering about on the claims, could you take a look at Inner Stickler and tell me what you think?

You’re taking credit for an awful lot there…I, for one, unvoted gnarly only after Weedy came forth saying he got the message that Texcat was a Mason.

As I said, Weedy, Texcat, gnarly…all saying, in some way or another, that Texcat is a Mason. I find that hard to believe that all three of them (or whoever it was that got the actual read on Texcat, if you want to count them as the third person) would try this gamebit as scum.
My unvoting didn’t have anything to do with you or anything you said, sorry to say. : p

I said I was going to bed, I know, but just…can’t…pull…away…

Credit where due, my apologies, my point was there were few people willing to even unvote gnarly. There are exceptions.

I could, but I really have a lot on my plate. I’m supposed to be fully analyzing the 5 people who have been investigated and give my recommendation as to which is most likely scum.

I’ve already said it’s not gnarly, and probably not you only due to the circumstances surrounding you and gnarly. But I don’t have a solid read on Jan, Blaster, or Dance.

My vote’s on Dance. I believe the Dethy-related setup is the correct one for the purposes of this analysis, and as such, I believe one of those three is scum. And I think that’s the best lynch you’re going to get today BY FAR.

I honestly don’t have it in me to also analyse Inner, but my impression is that his thoughts are useful, and that’s generally townie but doesn’t clear him.

Whoops, mistook Inner Stickler for Idle Thoughts. I like Idle’s contributions better than Inner Stickler’s.

Looking back I disagree with a lot of what Stickler has said. No read on if that’s scummy or not.

and og looked down and saw his children scampering about. he was well pleased.

I think you’ll find that his thoughts are useful, but contain absolutely zero opinions. At least look at my posts, http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14164642&postcount=1475 and http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14168940&postcount=1672.

And yes, I agree on Idle.

I read extremely fast, as you probably know.

Yes, I agree that Inner has not been taking clear positions and his posts are mostly “helpful-looking” or not-scum-finding comments.

Although I have no idea if that’s at all unusual for Inner.** I agree with your assessment**, not sure of its conclusion yet, because Inner may just be that way.

I’d be willing to challenge Inner once we find the scumbag within the 5 who have been scanned, I feel your case is fine but the odds are better that there’s a scum within Dance, Silver, Blaster, yourself or gnarly, and I’m not moving against gnarly for now.

If you want me to press on Inner, help me find the scum within that group of 3. Then I’ll lynch whoever you like.

My head hurts. If this is Gad idea of fun, what does he/she do for a really wild night, Kitten Stomping?

On first pass with all these claims, I cant see us having the mods lying to us or giving us paranoid cop type roles. A closed game where no one knows what powers they have is bad enough to start with, putting in intentional misdirection would give us a game that could be better resolved with a random number generator.
I am assuming what the mods tell us is correct, how we interpret that information is another thing. It is possible the mod tells a person X, but they interpret that as meaning Y.

Time for a lot of reading, Ill not be paying much attention to the peripheral stuff outside the current claimees, way too much to go through.
