Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

yes we Bold ** Names ** to make some posts easier to decipher and blue and bold ** is a vote **

Yeah, we almost always bold the name of another member. This isn’t just specific to this thread, almost everyone on the entire board does it (in all forums/threads).

And I really wish you poggers could have registered with your regular names, this is confusing the shit out of me.

yeah, we do color votes because board culture in general here bolds the usernames of people you’re talking to/about. Sure it makes it look like a bad gossip column, but it also helps you pick out when you’re being discussed in a crowded, fast moving thread.

I agree with this. The mechanics and evolution of such discussion is extremely interesting, but it’s also wasting our time right now. It’ll make for a great thread, but let’s have it at the end of the game.

Hey dancecat, you don’t seem too excited this game. Same old same old?

That’s what the other board has avatars for. ducks to avoid a fusillade of flying missiles

Yeah, in retrospect that would have made things easier. I’m JimHalpert.

Oh, wait, I misread what Zeriel said and my post made no sense. Disregard plz!

So, If Player B Wee a wolf, wouldn’t he want to kill non-seer Player A to gain “Townie Cred”?

Isn’t that worth waiting a day to try to find the seer?

I like this sachertorte person. I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

The point of the early vote on NAF was that, at the time of the vote, he had done (or suggested) what I thought was the most anti-village thing of anyone so far. The purpose of the vote is to apply pressure and hopefully generate discussion, and I’m glad that said discussion followed. As I said in an earlier post, I’m not sure that I can justifiably call him wolfy for it just because the idea was anti-villa/pro-wolf, especially since there’s a huge cultural difference between here and “home.” In fact, I am actively looking for someone who I think is a better vote (and I have a suspect or two), I’m just not quite sure what direction I’m going to take yet.

Does that help?

Yes, but probably not in the same way that you guys do. This is also probably due to the smaller typical game size as well as the longer Day length. It makes vanilla town more and more valuable just as an addition to the analytical process.

I would really like to talk about this more, but we might want to save it for Night.

Crap, are we allowed to talk at Night in this game, I need to recheck the OP.

Also…a new page now. I shouldn’t have answered the phone mid posting.

Yeah that happens occasionally and is referred to as “FPS the seerhunt” over there. In my few games I haven’t actually seen it happen, so I cannot elaborate further. Hopefully someone else can.

Sup fool?

I’m trying to keep it to a dull roar so that I don’t ruffle any feathers. Somehow I don’t think spamming the thread endlessly and verbally bitchslapping everyone who pisses me off would bode very well here.

Uhh, any wolf team should absolutely jump at the chance to trade one wolf for the only seer. If you all really play like this I would claim seer (as a wolf) every game so the real seer could counterclaim and get himself killed. I doubt you guys really play that straightforward but if you do, it’s definitely a leak in your game (poker terminology ftw).

No strategy talk at night. I want to think about it a little, but preliminarily I’m gonna say that this kind of discussion isn’t strategy as long as you don’t talk about anything specifically related to this particular game. Does anyone object to that ruling?

We tend to have the same Day 1 discussions all the time and it can get a bit boring, to be honest, so this seer/breadcrumb conversation is nice but I think I agree that it’s a distraction. I’m not sure if any scumminess would be revealed (although you never know).

What shall we talk about then? Maybe you all have some other, more interesting topics. What do you usually do on Day 1?

For number 1: But a vanilla villager wouldn’t actually know if player B was Town or not, so it seems to me to be a foolish claim.
And taken in with your number 4, it seems weird that you’d trust player B from then on, just because a vanilla player said he was Town (heck, ESPECIALLY because a vanilla player said he was Town…because the Vanilla Town wouldn’t know).

I do see your point in if the mafia killed the vanilla town, though, because logic would conclude that they think he’s right and thus, player B looks Town…but what if player B really IS scum? Then scum would want to kill off the vanilla villager anyway, if only to make it look like player B (who is scum) look like Town.
Actually, I’d think scum would probably want to try killing them off either way.

See, that’s unheard of in our games.

If 1 and 2 was the case, my guess is that this would happen:

  1. Everyone either lynches A or C.
  2. If they’re not the seer, the other is lynched the next day.

Or possibly:

  1. Neither of them is lynched and the Doc protects the one they believe the most.
    Then either:
    A. Both people are alive in the morning (which means the Doc probably chose right and now knows who the real Seer is)
    B. The real seer is dead and the other person (A or C) is lynched.

Wait, you guys actually allow players to talk at night in thread, just not about the game?

And nights are an entire day?

What the fuck.

While you were describing “verbally bitchslapping” people it hit me: I have no clue what a villager game of yours looks like. I think you’ve been evil every game I’ve played with you?

Has that streak been broken?

Have you met peeker?
