Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

And if the whispers are *totally *worthless, then following them is also foolish.

all the people who claimed investigations yesterday should obviously claim again today

I’m really only reporting these results because it helps the cops in question deduce their sanity and gets the results on record.

I strongly oppose lynching, and recommend each cop investigate the next person on the list of 3 results in alphabetical order, until they deduce their sanity.

Once their sanity is deduced, they can be much more useful cops.

If they deduce that someone is guilty, they can reveal. Until then they should be quiet.

Problem with that plan is re-directors, however, I doubt the scums have 3 redirectors, and getting innocent and guilty results in your history proves you’re sane or insane regardless.

It’s still useful, albeit less conclusive.

What? You advocate to lynch two of them, but when astral votes episkey you vote for astral?

eh, you seem more focused on mechanics which i tend to not value as much until later in the game

We know there is more than one whisperer, and imo it’s very unlikely they are both wolf roles. There isn’t that many wolf powers to go around and making two of them messengers sound pretty stupid. That and the wolf messenger probably needs a villager messenger just for balance sake.

We should be able to trust one of the whispers, but note that the village whisper could still have incorrect reads. If one of the whisperers dies and flips wolf, we should really pay attention to the other whispers from there on out.
pwns do you remember if there were a wolf and village messenger in your game?

there were no messengers in the way i think of them

i don’t think there were any whisperers either or whatever you call this thing, i can try to dig up the old excel sheet if i can remember what it’s called

Did you read my post or not?

I said it was VERY UNLIKELY and that I recommended against it.

I don’t value these results either. You don’t lynch based on detective results unless you think they are valuable.

I think they can *become *valuable. I recommend lynching someone besides yourself, NAF, or Episkey today, and otherwise noting these results but not doing anything with them unless someone has been able to deduce for certain that someone in this list is scum.

Until that time, it’s only academic.

So you list a very unlikely scenario, one that you so strongly don’t want to even test out that you’re willing to lynch anyone who broaches it, but you also give advice on what to do if this very unlikely scenario is true. WTF is the point?

Also pizza, you seem to get ideas in your head and just be completely unwilling to budge from them. I’ve read at least two or three posts from you along the lines of “You won’t change my mind on this…” It’s kind of tilting me.

can find it, whatever, fairly certain there was no role that sent messages of any kind

Sigh.

IF- There is one of each result, which is the only way to deduce what’s happening before all the detectives die, besides lynching everyone with a detective result (time wasting)

THEN- There are exactly THREE possible scenarios. I listed all three to be exhaustive. One scenario is more likely than the other two, the third is the least likely by far.

CONCLUSION- Do not assume the third one is true or act on that assumption through lynches. Adopt wait and see, but note all three scenarios just in case it becomes useful to someone this round or soon.

The list is posted somewhere by rebonk in the last game, 2nd to last page iirc (100 per page).

I thought I saw “messenger” named roles in that list but I guess they worked different than in this game?

You folks keep attaching this criticism to me, and it’s false.

I gave you three scenarios involving “one of each type” detective results.

I also said it’s possible that it’s not “one of each type” and that therefore, the results are going to be much harder to deduce.

I also said it’s possible all the results are bogus.

In response, folks are latching onto one of the scenarios, the scenario I find least likely, and aren’t budging from that one.

Your criticism is not only wrong, it’s inverted from the truth. I’m not the stubborn one here.

If you prefer, I can give you no scenarios, no observations, no recommendations, no analysis, and just vote randomly.

I’m sure that’s superior to what I’m doing.

Found it, there was a wolf “messenger” in the game.
Can’t post the role pm but the wolf power was essentially to send a random living role to the wolf’s targeted player.

Lol, again, you’re being combative and stubborn. Just relax.

You’re being equally combative, or else there would be no debate.

You’re being equally stubborn, or else you’d follow my recommendation.
