Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

Agreed.

Episkey

Night 1, visited Silver Jan. Jan was told that **gnarlycharlie **is Scum
Night 2, visited Askthepizzaguy. Pizza was told that **Episkey **is Scum, and was told that **NAF1138 **is Scum.

Assuming that Episkey is a Paranoid/Insane Cop, I see no reason why he it’s more likely that he is responsible for the Episkey result than for the NAF1138 result. In my opinion, there is exactly a 50/50 chance given the information we have currently.

Again, assuming he is a Cop, should we be looking for some mechanism (another player’s power, perhaps) that governs whose alignment Episkey sends to his target? Or are we assuming it’s random?

I dislike randomness in Mafia (once the game is afoot).

yes, I was told who I targeted, and it was not NAF.

I understand why in your position you believe it’s 50/50, but from my position I know for a fact one is wrong, while that isn’t the case with the other one.

Since I believe I’ve sent out one insane one (again, as paranoid would be a stupid role and insane would at least be useful once you figured it out) already, I believe I have an extremely higher chance of being responsible for mine.

I still have zero clue HOW the target of the investigation is chosen (by that I mean Gnarly/Me), but I am much much much more confident I’m the target in this case than NAF.

I don’t think it’s random though. Random doesn’t sound like something Gad would do (I also have no idea if it’s acceptable to say things like that. I hope so :frowning: ) I just have no clue exactly how it works. I think with time we can figure it out though.

Is there a chance that I choose who receives my peek and someone else’s target is the target of the investigation?

So like:

Player A targets Player B
Player C targets Player D

Player B gets insane peek of Player D?

Meh, idk. That seems pretty complicated for a backwards peek

I will say:

:thumb: A+ to Gad for the game that’s driving me insane

yeah, not so much.

The way my PM was presented made it appear that it was my power. Howeer, it was very clear that it as just a message that was delivered to me.

My conclusion remains that it is my power, as I did target Scuba Ben and he did describe the effect of my power. it could be a clever ruse where Scuba knew I targeted him, described a power impact on him, and then had a message sent to me describing said power.

It’s possible.

And then, the person I targeted wouldn’t have gotten the power I think I have

Wait, no that does make sense.

If you targeted Gnarly->Me I think we can work together

I see the possibuilities (however repmote) as

  1. Episki selects a target A and that target is told that a random Target B has a random alignment
  2. Episki selects a target A and that target is told that a random Target B has a scum alignment
  3. Episki Selects 2 targets, Target A is told Taget B random alignment
  4. Episki selects 2 targets and target A is told target B is scum.

Clearly option 4 would make Episki scum
option 12 and 3 are just very unhelpful to town. Option one seams unlikly as a game mechanic. if the target A was scum and the random traget B was scum and the random result was town, that would be telling one scum another scum was town.

Did episki ever pass comment on selecting two targets, or question anyone about two target selection.

I have not had to make two selections for targets

It appears my spelling just sucks, without the aid of wine.
Must use preview

I also don’t believe the investigation is of a random target. I think we just haven’t figured out the connection yet

I failed to submit a Night Action on night 2. My action was randomized to a player who plays regularly on the idlemafia site.

Additionally, that person was not NAF.

Well that’s an interesting twist.

Yes, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that my power did not impact you, I suppose.

Though redirection seems unlikely with only 1 target, that’s effectively what happened with peeker.

That’s right, I forgot about that. Still, that was very specific to the type of game it was.

Since I think both you AND Brewha are the top two most suspicious players in the game right now, it really doesn’t surprise me that you seem to be trying to save/defend him AND make a nice little smudge of me, just in case I’m right, at the same time.

Getting desperate are ya?

Good grief, you’d think I could read faster than yall could type. Maybe if I quit having to stop and get a beer, I could get caught up faster.

I certainly didn’t see one and I’ve been watching for it.

On Episkey, can anyone confirm that my quick read is correct: N1 Episkey targeted Gnarly and results went to SilverJan N2 Episkey targeted Pizza and Pizza received results on Episkey. This makes no sense at all. What do your think your role would say? I think either you have a role where you target someone and information about that someone goes somewhere, or you have a role where you target someone and they get information. But your target can’t be the subject of the information one night and the receiver of the information another night.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!

I am convinced that the color regarding the protection roles was designed to help the protection roles figure out who they are. The warm glow giver is one protection role, the feels safe is another protection giver. Was there another one that felt healthy or some such?

I don’t know if there is a similar clue in the investigative results.

I am not a Doc and have never played one on TV, but if I were I know I’d like to see a repeat of the players who received some sort of good feeling at night and specifically if they felt glow, safe, healthy, etc. It will help our docs sort themselves out.

I also urge everyone who has received an investigative result to look to see if there is not some tell in the color of the message.

I am going to start the ball rolling my volunteering once again my partner’s N1 results: Gnarly felt safe on N1

I really don’t like this sentence, as it gives a different amount of information to different players. Those who do play regularly on Idle’s board can narrow down the list of possible targets fairly well, but those who have never played on Idle have no idea who those people are.

Either name your target or don’t. Don’t drop hints that only a select class of players can decipher.

Tex, I targeted Jan and she got gnarly night 1. I targeted Pizza and he got me n2.
Seriously, if someone targeted exactly Gnarly then me nights 1 and 2 I think it’s a good idea to say so. It’d confirm my earlier guess, and frankly I’m at a loss to what else it can possibly be.
