Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

Many beverages
If this post is the only one that pings you don’t vote me for just that………
I like the case against ** sangaman ** * (sp)* the time shift really looks like a Scum/Wolf trying to muster the troops for an alibi

I think the lynch may continue on in that avenue

Given my vote record I hesitate to wagon there (y’all would rip me up right or wrong) eta I hate that part

Since my posts go largely unanswered AND I have not received any results of any merit I’m not Sure I might be NKilleded (unless the proclaimed poisoner targets me Again and of course that would give me one more day atleast fur as we know)
Every Night so far I have received “ No Apparent Result” (one of my targets died so not a Doc unless someone blocked me N1 Not a vig or a detective unless I was blocked both Nights Not a watcher since I aint’ seen nothin’. Not a redirector since none of my targets were affected by that – as far as I know ) Something else is a foot
So I ain’t much help at this point. That said I will try to leave some of my clues

My speeling sucks at this part of my day so (sp) means I prob didn’t spell it right.

** Z ** pinged me at one point (I think ** Normal ** threw a rock at that)
And ** Scathatch ** (* sp *) has too

** lilflower ** is a possible
At this point in the game I would look in the weeds (reference to those behind the noise not anyone with a screen name like that)
** ATPG’s ** methods annoy many (meta= last game I was able to clear him as Town early and he was like this And I wanted to strangle him)
** Ed** is being a tad more fluffy than I have been accustomed to . (not real Scummy just now but different)

Ramble
I may not be awake at EOD and vote I shall
** vote PCM **

The initial vote was week and late on an established wagon. NO back up even after the fact.
Low participation Not a lot of Scum/Wolf hunting that I see
None of us knows when they are gonna wake up dead I’m tossing this out there

Nice.

I can feel your anger… it gives you focus; makes you stronger.

And it feels townie to me.

Because there’s a ton of people voting to lynch you?

R U EVEN SRS???

Because of course, a poisoner targeting one townie after three rounds is way, way too unlikely for you to consider.

Terrible.

So Episkey targeted me and I got a result on gnarly saying that gnarly was scum. Could it be that** Episkey** is scum and sent me a false result? I don’t think there is much to gain by lynching me, which I have said numerous times before.

@** Idle**, I know I got no apparent result but neither did you, I really don’t understand why you think I am a roleblocker? You have said that** Ed** got no apparent result too but his action did work. I targeted** Ed **on N1, which means I didn’t block him, surely?

@** brewha**, I haven’t targeted you so I couldn’t have poisoned you, perhaps you just want to FOS me? I don’t want to place my vote here cos it seems a bit pointless at the moment, him being poisoned and all.

I am not sure of everyone’s reasoning but are there a lot of people voting for Sangaman because of his slip about how many scum there are? Couldn’t it have been a genuine guess? It looks like it’s a bandwagon! I don’t know if he’s town or scum but it looks as if it’s an easy vote for scum to hide in.

Vote Episkey

Because of the fact that I got a scum result on gnarly, whom I did not target and so far looks to be soft cleared as a Mason by other players.

I wan tthis confirmed - cuz then Episkey should be handle a lot different than I thought.

I agree that when a person says:
A scum wouldn’t do that, the person who says it is rand to be scum.

I appreciate your explanation - and I believe you haven’t covered this:
What if the wolves just kill you with their team kill?
And what makes you so sure that you are going to be killed?
Are you a better player than the rest?

The part I’ve quoted is not villagery.
I find it interesting that you actually make this post.
The reasons you have stated to why you wouldn’t target a teammate is not really good imo. The risk of killing/blocking your teammate is small - so that shouldn’t be a reasoning.

What team kill?

Claimed vigilante, not falling for the false detective results, steered townies toward looking at the innocent claims, and someone (several someones) else figured out it was Blaster Master, and we didn’t lynch gnarlycharlie that round and learn zero, we lynched a scum that round and learned these “results” aren’t worth the zeroes and ones they’re printed on.

No.

My confidence in my own abilities has been so shaken lately that I’ve revealed as a vigilante just to make sure my death is swift and I take out fewer townies as a result.

Yes it is.

I find it interesting that you “find it interesting”.

The repercussions of doing so are huge.

It’s like playing Russian roulette with a revolver that could hold 40 bullets.

Oh sure, the risk is small, but the repercussions of bad luck are monstrous.

Finger of Suspicion: Duckburg DK

You’re giving me the creeps.

Ah, found it.

It’s in the OP, silly pizzaguy.

Yes, the wolves have a team nightkill. FunFact: Blaster Master was the first, and thusfar, only player to use the words “team kill” in succession. He was scum.

Why’s that? Because townies are sloppy and don’t know what’s going on, even when the information is available. The scums of course have read the rules and the OP very carefully and are intimately aware that they have a team kill.

Now, I double checked and it appears crackedquads mentions the “team night kill” directly, while quoting the OP and talking about game mechanics.
And now, I’m going to be completely unfair, and make an accusation that wouldn’t hold any water in any court of law. But we’re a lynch mob of bloodthirsty manic villagers dead set on destroying scumbags based on little or no reasons, because we’re being murdered from within. We’re panicky unpredictable animals, and we’re not in the slightest bit fair.

So here’s my*** COMPLETELY UNFAIR ***accusation:

**Mykbot **couldn’t handle being scum in this game, dropped, got replaced by Duckburg, who is intimately aware of the team kill, not because he read the OP like so few of us likely have in great detail, but because s/he’s scum. **crackedquads **might also be scum.

While the townies were discussing the wolf kill mechanics which they weren’t aware of because they don’t read carefully, myself included, the wolves already knew what their kill mechanics were because they know, and because it’s in the OP which they’ve been helpfully pointing out to us.

Maybe.

But you know what? As completely unfair as that accusation is, and with a very large margin for error, the odds suggest it’s plausible. That’s the really sad thing.

Until the recent posts by Duckburg and myself, obviously.

Problem is that accusation has such a massive margin for error, and I hate everything about it except for the fact that townies miss stuff a lot, I doubt I could bring myself to back up that accusation with votes. It’s an atrocious case.

Thing is, good case, bad case, no case, doesn’t change if someone is scum or not. I could make the greatest case in the history of anything, and simply be wrong about one key detail, and be wrong. I could post the worst case in the history of mafia, and no matter how poor the logic is, if it happens to be right, it’s right.

Unsound/reaching case on Duckburg won’t get much popular support, but it could be correct.

I’ve been even lazier than usual toDay since the Lynch result seems to be a foregone conclusion. Still, here are my “feels”:

I’ve “soft-cleared” several players, but won’t name them for fear it will do them more harm than good. :smack:

Top scum candidates include brewha, Precambrianmollusc, sangaman and possibly Scathach, Zeriel, and DuckburgDK.

Other scum candidates (although none are “top” candidates) are
Episkey and Giraffe
Astral Rejection and crackedquads.
I’ve shown these four suspects as an E/G pair and an A/C pair because these alignments are reflected in the votes: E/G have cast some votes for A/C and vice versa. I realize Scum can buss Scum (and Townies can make cases against Townies), but least pleading would suggest that if one pair is cleared, the other is scummier, and vice versa. Thus this observation may suggest ways to help prune a suspect list.

Sorry again for low post-count. I do find it hard to keep up (a thread ten times as long is more than ten times as hard to follow) and my search skills are poor. Idle’s board allows one to display all of a player’s posts, which is very useful; here you get only excerpts and need to click again to read each message. As did several others, I probably should have asked to be subbed out, but after this long delay that would probably do more harm than good.

Stick with it septimus.

It’s terrible NOW, but when our numbers are fewer and I’m dead, the thread should be much easier to follow. Large games with chatty players are less manageable in the beginning. We’ve had a lot of replacement players because people couldn’t keep up.

Don’t miss out on the fun even if you have to skim/skip posts. We’re all doing it, even folks like me who usually read every single word of the game thread several times over.

The who what now?

Did you just say Duckburg? What’s *your *case on Duckburg. Maybe it’s infinitely better than mine.

sorry I have been absent, I closed out my browser window and completely forgot about this game, dumb me.

anyways, askthepizzaguy : a wolf team nightkill is an every single game occurrence on our board, you dont need to read the OP for that. You are reading way too much into it, but honestly, its probably a Townie thing to do, not something Scum would try and jump on.

also, I suggest you target someone to help work out the claims, maybe gnarly. Use your power for good

Dont say who you plan on targeting though, and have at least two possibilities in mind if discussing in thread so it makes it harder for wolves to decide to use potential roleblock and/or angel powers.

sangaman looks like he is going down today, dont really have a read on him one way or the other so whatever. Would prefer brewha myself, but its mainly because I dont like his interactions with askthepizzaguy

Duckburgs role is pretty much exactly neutral now.

Did not exist in the other game which is still ongoing.

But okay, this is why I air my thoughts. Other brains are going to know things I don’t know.

Maybe it is less of a tell than I thought, and I already thought it was a poor case. That said, I still am getting the heebie-jeebies from brewha, Astral, Duckburg, and a little bit from crackedquads.

I also get the feeling I am sunk unless there is a town watcher role. A team nightkill is going to be *particularly *devastating if a watcher sees the whole scum team kill me.

J.D. and Duckburg and a few others are not from the Straight Dope. They are from some other board where Gadarene plays and he brought them over for this game. So there are at least three different ‘board cultures’ in this game.
Precambrianmollusc, a question, why do you keep including the Krayz wagon when you comment on people, e.g. when you were talking about if sangaman was wolf, and when you analysed the Blaster vs. Inner wagons, you made special note of the people who were also on the Krayz wagon. What is so special about it, or just that it was a wagon? Cos you keep picking out Lightfoot and Scuba_Ben and I am wondering why.

Resourceful! I wish I was having that kind of luck recruiting for Capo IV. Still no takers. :frowning: Gonna have to start doing personal PM invites.

Indeed. Unless TexCat or Silver Jan was guilty, that wagon should be virtually meaningless. Why would the scums risk more than just Mahaloth on a wagon that only serves to lynch a random townie on Day 1 with no evidence he’s anything special, over TexCat/Silver?

That wagon becomes meaningful is if TexCat/Silver flips scum, and even then, only *maybe *so. A wagon to spare a scum could have townies all over it, it’s not even a strongly reliable indicator.

hope everyone in Irene’s path are prepared. ironically a typhoon stronger than Irene is pounding us (the country not me personally) now. but because typhoons hit us very often and our government agencies’ resources aren’t much, we just shrug our shoulders and hope for the best.

still have doubts about my claim? so **weedy**, **texcat** and i are all in cahoots together? we risked two other scum to save one?

what did you claim???

@JD gnarlycharlie and I are villager masons. Weedy received a message with my role and alignment: mason and villager. I was not her target. Additionally, SilverJan received a message that gnarlycharlie was wolf. Her message is what prompted us to claim.
