Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

I have yet to catch up toDay. I just got on and, in checking my messages, found a bevy of results.

Okay, so, wealth of information coming.

First off: I have good reason to think I’m a detective.

On Night 0 I targeted Suburban Plankton (I used random.org). I got nothing…not no apparent result, not any PM back at all.

On Night 1, I targeted NAF, mostly because he had a little heat on him Day one and I also know he’s a good, strong player…good if he’s Town but bad if he’s a wolf. I was hoping for some info on him either way.

Morning came, and I actually got TWO messages, only one of which I relayed to everyone in here. The first thing I saw was that my action yielded no apparent result. The second message, however (the one you all already know), was a message that said dancecat was a Villager (which we now know came from Dancecat, herself, targeting me).

The FIRST message–that I’m finally revealing since I think it’s a good time to start to try to figure out what we all are–said that NAF1138 is a Mimic. That each night beginning Night Zero, he selects a target. He then will emulate his target’s night action the following night.
Also: Apparently NAF is a Villager and he wins when all threats to Town Village have been eliminated.

Well, suffice to say, I was pretty happy because I figured I was the detective (the being the key word here; it didn’t occur to me, at the time, that there could be multiples).

I also notice that NAF’s message read that his action starts on NIGHT 0…so he’s the one action that went through, I’m guessing.
Night 2, I targeted Silver Jan, for thinking she was the most suspicious of the huge kerfuffle on Day 2.

Morning came, and I got TWO results (only one of which I relayed): One, that I was blocked (this is the one I told everyone)…but I had another from someone else, apparently…The other informed me that, apparently, Drain Bead is a reflector, and a Villager.
What she does is selects a target each night. Her target’s night action for that night will be redirected back to her target. And she wins when all the threats to Town have been eliminated.

The info on Drain Bead, I assume, came from someone else.
Last Night, I targeted MYSELF, after all the discussion about insane cops and paranoid cops and the like. I wanted to see if I would get anything from it and if it would be a true answer.

This morning I wake up to find a bevy of information:

First off, I got the message (in regards to my OWN NIGHT ACTION) that** I’m a Detective** and that each night beginning Night One, you investigate a target to learn their full role and that I’m a villager (but I knew that last part already, of course). And I win by achieving parity with the village and eliminating any other threats.

The second message I got was very stranger and almost eerie. It was one of those messages from someone else (not having anything to do with my own Night action) and it said the EXACT SAME THING as my message did. Basically that I’m a Detective and that each night beginning Night One, you investigate a target to learn their full role and that I’m a villager. And I win by achieving parity with the village and eliminating any other threats.

THE THIRD (yes, three) message I got was that I feel healthy.

Why I got the info on me twice, I don’t know. This makes me think that either someone else targeted me (other than myself) or that my own result was reflected back onto me somehow.

Anyway, that’s all of what I know now (from the start of the game). Sorry to those who think that it might have been better to sit on it even longer, but at this point…with bloodshed all around, each Night…I’m getting increasingly worried about having the chance to reveal what I had. Most who know me know that I usually claim ON DAY ONE, actually…so this time I actually tried to show some restraint. : p

And now to go catch up.

Yikes, another blood bath last Night. Hopefully the death of the scum Vig will slow down the Town death rate from here on out…

My results were boring: I got no messages last Night. My Night action has yet to yield any apparent results. None of my targets have reported anything that would give me a clue as to my role (I targeted Normal Phase on N0, peeker on N1, askthepizzaguy on N2, and special ed on N3.) Perhaps I’m the poison-curer (apothecary?), i.e. thoroughly useless now that Pizzaguy is dead.

i never said i wasn’t roleblocked, depends what you mean by explicit i suppose

That’s extremely interesting, Idle.

Given:

  • Yesterday, PizzaGuy claimed messages that NAF and Episkey were Wolves.
  • Now, Idle claims an investigation that NAF is a Villager.

I conclude:

  • The message PizzaGuy received about NAF was false.
  • Therefore, the message PizzaGuy received about Episkey is probably true.

Hence:
vote Episkey

Also, Idle thanks for not pulling the Pleo-Idle gambit.

Suburban Plankton

the apothecary role is town

2754 - "Last night I was told I had a role (x) and an alignment (town).

so role = apothecary
alingement = town

It probably wasn’t clear as i was trying not to put out too much information at that point.

As we seam to be laying out all our cards

I am a/the town watcher. I target someone and get a message as to who visits them

N1 I targeted Episki - visited by someone
N2 I targeted Suburban Plankton - visited by no one
N2 I was also told I was the town apothecary
N3 I targeted Pwnsall (I figured he/she is a dead lock as town and scum would probably kill them), and found out that nobody visited Septimus

Yeah, well, that’s your opinion. You have to realize you’re playing with people of different cultures and opinions now.

I had two good choices for–what I believed–to be the best lynch yesterDay (I’m talking about at the START of Day–before sangaman’s slip): Brewha and Scathach. With me so far?
As I already said: Since I had had LONGER and STRONGER suspicions of Brewha, I felt he was the best lynch that Day. You still aren’t going to convince me that giving someone THAT YOU FIND SUSPICIOUS another Night to do stuff is a good idea.

And that’s another good point! Why would I want Brewha dead if he’s a wolf (which he WAS) and I’m a wolf? If I’m a wolf, then I’d OBVIOUSLY HAVE A GOOD IDEA, BY NOW, THAT HE WAS A VIG…now wouldn’t I? So why would I try to bus and get a lynch on OUR OWN VIG (remember, I’m humoring you in thinking I’m a wolf) when that would give us an extra Night kill THAT. VERY. NIGHT?

Makes no sense! Brewha WAS a Wolf and, what’s more, he was a VIG! So it turns out that your choice of letting him live since “he’s poisoned anyway” was a huge shit idea and that my thoughts of “Let’s kill him now, rather than let him–if he’s scum–have an extra Night to do bad stuff with” was correct! Yet you still want to vote for me in thinking it was a scummy think to do?

I think you have tunnelvision.

Just reread this and saw I forgot the word “said” in there. :smack: It should be “The first thing I SAID saw was that my action yielded no apparent result.”
And I agree with Scuba Steve…with five more scum still in the game, that widens my suspicions a lot more (nine scum is a hell of a lot more than I’d have guessed).

Vote Episkey

no it wasn’t, we ended up killing two wolves if you want to be as results oriented as possible

also it’s an incredibly easy spot to bus a wolf as another wolf

regardless i’m not going to vote a claimed seer today

do you not know who visited episki?

also i don’t think everyone should necessarily claim, only if they think it is best

And as I said: If I was a wolf, why would I have held the opinion that Brewha should be lynched THAT DAY (and not live to see another Night)?
Because that’s what I said, in case you forgot.

LOOKY HERE

Regarding Brewha and voting for him yesterDay:

I was the first (and only, at the time) vote on Brewha then.

If I were a wolf, wouldn’t I want to try to KEEP Brewha in the game, EVEN FOR JUST ONE MORE NIGHT, figuring him to be a vig (and thus, possibly having an extra Night kill for the wolves one more time before dying)?

Seriously, you make no sense and I’m starting to wonder if it’s really just lack of logic or something else.

to the bolded, maybe i don’t think it matters much obviously

however, you seem to really believe it which i think is relatively clearing of you

I agree with you and as I voted for Episkey yesterDay and now with a bit more information I haven’t seen anything to change my mind. I do think it was helpful that Astral was suspicious of him.

Vote Episkey

sigh.

So we go from everyone saying “maybe theres two people giving out false info” to “WAIT WE KNOW NAF IS FALSE THEREFORE EPISKEY IS WOLF”
What. the. fuck.

Have we actually come across a double role yet?

Since everyone that has been whispered about as Scum Is certain that they are Town

Perhaps we should take a closer look at the players that were whispered about as Town.

So far it’s been ** SilverJan and pwnsall ** correct?
*
I must pay attention to my employer today so I’lll try to add to this after work *

Just checking in now. Only have a second. Idle’s claim makes total sense of my role. I targeted Ed Night 1 and myself NIGHT 2. THAT explains why I got a double pick.

Summary of message shenanigans (the parentheses denote what we know about the content of the message but doesn’t say anything about the recipient).

Night 1:
Scuba Ben gets a message that Jan is a villager (veracity unknown)
Weedy gets a message that Texcat is a villager and a mason (confirmed true)
Giraffe gets a message that Blaster is a villager (confirmed false)
Idle gets a message that Dancecat is a villager (confirmed true)
Idle gets a message that NAF is a villager and a mimic (unknown)
Jan gets a message that gnarlycharlie is a wolf (confirmed false)

We know Dancecat was able to send her alignment so that accounts for Idle’s message.
We know Blaster could send false alignment so that accounts for Giraffe’s message
Night 2:
PCM gets a message that he is a villager and the apothecary (unknown)
AskthePizzaGuy gets a message that NAF is a wolf (unknown; contradicted by Idle)
AskthePizzaGuy gets a message that Episkey is a wolf (unknown)
Donkx4 gets a message that Dancecat is a villager (confirmed true)
Ed gets a message that he is a villager and a power booster (unknown)
Idle gets a message that Drain Bead is a villager and a reflector (unknown)

On Night 1, we had two messages with both role and alignment. Idle is pretty sure his is correct (about himself) and know that the message about Texcat is correct. So the question here is why PCM got one that doesn’t seem right (i.e., how did he get a message about role and alignment that wasn’t correct). Also, on this Night there are three role/alignment messages and only two on Night 1. I’m not sure that means but it’s curious.
Also, based on other claims, it seems that Ed is the power booster so at least that part of his message seems correct. And if we believe Idle, that leaves Episkey and PCM as the odd men out.

Night 3:
Scuba Ben gets a message that Weedy is a villager (unknown)
Idle gets a message that he is a villager and a detective (unknown)

I’m still not quite sure what is going on but I am willing to accept Idle’s claim at this point. I’m thinking that there is a very good chance that the results on Episkey are correct.

Fascinating. And very useful, thank you. I have to admit, I laughed at the recursiveness of my self-targeting last Night. I wonder if that is still bouncing back and forth from me to me.

My N2 target was a mistake, knowing my role…but he’s dead now so it doesn’t matter. My N1 target was Ben, so whatever he did N1 reflected back onto him. I’ll need my memory refreshed as to whether or not we know what that was, because I’m having major trouble keeping track of everything. Blah.

I doubled scuba ben’s actions on Night 1

What’s a “double role”?
