Mystery Mafia -- Game Thread

I’ve woken up over here in the Land of Smiles, and see 150 new posts in this thread. I see the noise is mostly Idle Thoughts living up to his name.

I pointed it out immediately after I read the post, or rather, after skimming the following posts with increasing surprise that no one else had pointed it out. To expect an immediate response would be to assume 24/7 monitoring of this thread!

I’m spending hourssss every day in this game, almost burdensome despite that I’m a rather … well … idle retiree. I’m still amazed the rest of you are doing this and holding down regular jobs.

And I’m hurt ( :frowning: ) that people still have me on the Uncertain List. I know that the following comment will just increase suspicion, but I’ll say it anyway:
With my votes on Blam, Idle (and a few other Scum?) I feel like I’m the Towniest Townie in the whole Town.

I’m online all the time, why do you think they made me a mod? : p

Although I am going to bed soon…thing is it’s when everyone else is in bed, too, heh.

Just think: I wouldn’t even be this way if I hadn’t made that stupid, stupid mistake. My own dumbassery, I fully admit. But I can’t help but think I’d have been totally cleared to the end of the game, probably. Arrrgggghhh!

I’ll slow down for ya, Gad. Only for you, though, since you asked so nicely.
It’s damn fun being open scum alive in a game, though. I can see it being addicting. Now I know what Zuma and Ed felt like in the respective games they were outed scum in.
Ed was much more annoying than I’m being, though. : p Much, much, much more.

Bolding mine.
Oh, come on! You expect that to have any weight to your defense?

That’s like someone coming in, putting a vote down for me (after eight or so have already been placed) and going “See, I’m voting for Idle. I’m town!”

But I digress. You’ve been the nicest, of the bunch, at me for outing you…so I won’t poke holes in your defense as much as the others.

Apologies - 9 y.o girl didn’t want to go to bed, they are truly a great resource for convoluted reasons of why not to do something that needs to be done.

Well you are asking definitive statements of things that are highly uncertain.

Lightfoot and scuba are up there
Episki - not sure I found Episkies ignoring of ATPG claims that ATPG had received info that both Idle and Episki were scum odd as episki only focused on ATPG saying he was scum thus tried to QED that as he (episki) had targeted ATPG, and came back with a scum read on Episki, obviously he (episki) is an insane cop type role and therefore town. Just seamed a luittle too happy to ignore other information out there in order to lay out a case for his innocence. Now thatIdle has been shown to be scum, Either Epi told ATPG the truth about Idle, or Epi told the truth about someone, but the name was changed to be himself. Which oddly is what happened to me with the apothecary role. As it happened on the same night it could be we have more than one confuser/name switcher out there, or some doubling going on.

Huh?

That never happened. Seriously. Can you show me a post where ATPG says he got a message that said I’m scum?

I think you mixed these two: I targeted ATPG on Night two (and he was told Episkey was scum due to my power). But Pizza Guy never got a message saying I was scum, at least not that he said he did (as far as I know, nobody said they got a message saying I was scum).

I think Idle has gone all Winston Smith on us. In a game Winstone some how slipped, then posted so much confusion I think people , both wolves and town were considering a real lynch mob, there were about three name changes for WS as well, which didn’t help.

Correct NAF, not Idle
I confuse the two of you, you sound alike

FWIW I confuse Inner Stickler and Suburban Plankton a lot, I blame it on stickler sounding like Stickleback, which is a fish, and plankton has the whole aquatic theme going as well. Add to that Inner makes me think Inner City which with Suburban has a whole civil planning connotation.

Nah, I’m telling the truth with most of what I say…
…but I’m extremely serious when I say you’re wrong that Pizzaguy said he got a message saying I was scum. I will personally PayPal you 50 bucks if you can find a post that says that (you can’t…you’re mistaken or you’re thinking of someone else or you got your thoughts twisted on another matter).

DAMN YOU, sniping a reply in there like that. Haha…

Okay, off to bed now..you all get a moment’s rest from my WiFoM.

Yes- I just said I confused you with NAF

Why am I responding to you???

OK, well enjoy you evening, SCUM!!!

night all…

Why does all the fun stuff happen when I’m asleep, not fair

I’m still not sure that** Episkey** is a Villager and I think that we could test** Idle’s claim but somehow I still think we should vote (Idle) If Idle** is telling the truth about his role then we will get that information when we lynch him. If he is telling the truth then we can go after all the other people he named as scum but, as the saying goes, “a bird in the hand…”

Unvote Episkey

Vote Idle Thoughts

I don’t see any reason to keep him alive and just go on trust, this is Mafia after all. If he is telling us the truth then he has given us all the information we need to win anyway.

I was scum in that game with** Winston** and it was planned that he would accuse innocent Townies of bussing him so that they would be lynched after him. It was good in theory, however, the cunning plan didn’t work! Scum or in this case Wolves will do anything to win, that’s another reason I would rather we lynched** Idle** today.

Ok. I was afraid you didn’t get it. Then i would have just been sad.

It’s not an entirely unique position. Also do you not think that the simpler more obvious explanation is that he was just being truthful to get town cred? He lies about any of his investigations and its not one but two wolves down when wolves are already dropping like flies. I mean we spent a bit if time talking about the mistakes of seekham, do you think hr didn’t learn anything from that? Do you really think I was under enough heat to let him do something like that to me if I was scum?

Bah. Sorry for the weird typos. I’m posting from my phone while drinking my coffee.

It’s time to do a mass claim. Not role claims, just lists of targets night-by-night. ToDay is a good for it since the Lynch is a foregone conclusion. Moreover, Townies will soon be asked to reveal targets anyway, so it’s better to get Scum on record before they can devise lies.

The target lists may clarify things. Scum will out themselves if they’re truthful, but lies will also be detectable.

I’d reveal my own targets now, except I think it would be better for a confirmed Townie to impose an order, to make it more likely that Scum claim first.

Unfortunately our most confirmed Townies are dead. :frowning: . But perhaps we have some “soft-cleared” semi-confirmed Townie we could agree on, e.g. special ed. (Even if we can’t agree on a single list-maker, we could have 2 or 3 lists and average them down to a single list.)

Hmmm. If one of his other reveals in that post was outed as wrong, he wouldn’t have made it to endgame like he thinks he would have…

You’ve been investigated as Scum by someone. You likely would have been next on the block, especially if Episkey turned up Town like he claims he will. And at the time, it looked like Episkey might have been the lynch. What better way to extend your life than having the Detective come out and post the results of a testable role (me) and switch your role to Town?

Is this true? Unknown. His comment upthread that he expected to make it to endgame with this gambit makes me wonder. But for you to say that you weren’t under enough heat is pretty ludicrous.

We haven’t ever been scum together have we? I am fairly confident about my lynch dodging abilities. I wouldn’t have gone along with that type of a plan, particularly because if either of us dies we both go next.

It’s a stupid plan at this stage.

I don’t think we’ve ever been Scum together, but I’ve been Scum a LOT, so they all tend to blur together. If we have, it was one of my earlier games.
