Repeat to yourself, “It’s just a show,
I should really just relax!”
“Oh bite me, it’s fun!”
Hi-Keeba!
I wasn’t trying to stop the fun. I was quoting the theme song of the show.
That was the first one I ever saw. I thought it would be that one puppet show they show around Christmas, then I saw it was a Russian movie, and since Russian history is my area of interest, I started to watch it (I had seen glimpses of the show before, but never bothered to watch it).
Then I almost choked laughing that night.
I LIKE Bobo and Brain Guy. Especially Brain Guy. I love “When I Held Your Brain In My Arms”
I loved when they put Mike on trial for blowing up planets, and Crow and Servo sent in their depositions by video. Crow’s is laced with profanity. It’s hysterical.
I have god knows how many sound files, including some songs.
I don’t think I could pick a favorite, but I’m a huge fan of all the Mike-era shows. Particularly like Hobgoblins (“Sir, were you on crack while directing this movie?” “Why yes, I had been doing a lot of crack that day, and…”) and Werewolf. Also the one with the Jean Claude Van Damme wannabe who they send back in time to fight dinosaurs, and one that I think was called Soultaker or something? Only saw it once.
Any votes for worst episode? I despise Blood Waters of Dr. Z. I fell asleep, it was so unfunny.
No. But if you’re interested in seeing them, email me. I’m warning you, though, they’re REALLY bad. And I don’t mean that in a good way.
By the way, shy guy, that Jean-Claude wannabe in Soultaker went on to be prominently featured in Matrix Reloaded as one of the sidekick agents.
All those are great, but I rank Blood Waters of Dr. Z right up there as well.
Strangely enough ,the fellow sitting next to me is humming the theme song as I read this thread. Guess he’s a fan…
For some reason the movies that were in color seemed to be on average worse than the black and white ones. But the one that I remember as being the most boring one ever was this werewolf movie done in color; it was so long and boring I distinctly remember groaning twice that it wasn’t over yet.
And I like Mike better, but that’s because he’s the first one I knew and I’m more familiar with him than Joel.
I loke both Joel and Mike. Among my favorite episodes are Marooned and Teenagers from Outer Space.
EVE! How did you order Gamera? I didn’t know it was available… or are you just trading tapes?
I started watching the show when I was just a little kid. I have a whole bunch of episodes that I taped then, but if I could go back in time I’d tell myself, “Self, next time you go to the store, buy more tapes and tape them ALL!” I have all but 2 or 3 of the Rhino tapes. I think my favorite’s Mitchell - not the host segments about Joel leaving, but the movie itself. Or maybe the Coleman Francis movies (though I don’t have Beast of Yucca Flats.) Or the Hercules movies!
“Dolphins! One of the smartest mammals on Earth! Do they wear pants? NO! But they wish they did – that’s how smart they are!”
Watch out for snakes!
Did you ever notice that the REALLY bad movies are always painful to watch the first time you see an episode-but then you watch it next time, it’s easier and even funnier?
That was the case for me with Space Mutiny. First time I saw it I couldn’t get over how horrid the movie was, but then I watched it again, and since I knew what to expect, I could pay more attention to Mike and the 'Bots. And I LOVE that one, it’s so funny!
“Spider skank, spider skank!”
“Crunch Buttsteak! Dirk Hardslab! Big McLargehuge!”
Sorry about the face.
I dunno, the Coleman Francis ones are SO awful, they’re painful. I can’t bring myself to try Red Zone Cuba again.
I think the first one I ever saw was “I Accuse My Parents”. I accidentally came across it one morning while flipping channels. I remember it had a scene where a man was walking down a sidewalk and stopped in front of a restaurant. The sign says “Cafe”. I think it was one of the Bots that said, “Cafe…I’ve heard of this place.” For some reason, that cracked me up and I’ve spent many happy hours watching the show ever since then.
Ator flies, and so does my heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaart
With his kite made of sticks and strings and bamboo
I come along with you, for the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.
On a similar note, I don’t remember which one this is from, but some guy walks down a street and passes, I think, a bar with a big sign that says “BAR”.
“Oh! I’ve heard of Bar. That’s where they serve Food and Drink!”
Not to mention the “Look Polish” sign. Which comes from the same scene where the two young women are walking and having typical inane movie chatter that you can’t discern. They pause because they hear the monster… and then
“Did you hear something? No? So, anyway, abadababdabdabdbabdbadbadbadbda”
Man, I’m cracking up just reading this thread. It’s been ages since I’ve watched the show, I should invest in some DVDs.
Jeez. Color me amazed.
Now that makes me want to see it again. I’ve found that Guinistasia is right when it comes to needing to see some episodes more than once. I didn’t like The Thing That Wouldn’t Die very much at first, and I love it now.
Does anyone remember in which episode Joel opened an umbrella to cover a spot of brief nudity on the screen? I remember that it was a girl swimming in a big tank or water tower, but not much else. I used to have a copy of that one on a tape of one of the Turkey Day Marathons, but it disappeared with my last roommate.
