Mythology: who lives at the South Pole?

Don’t conspiracy theorists think that the Nazis established a secret base near the South Pole?

I always thought Superman’s Fortress of Solitude was in the Antarctic, but a Wikipedia check shows I was wrong. Neither is Doc Savage’s FoS. Maybe Ozymandius’ is.

Oh, those crazy Nazis!

The Elder Things live at the South Pole, in their cyclopean frozen city below the forbidding Mountains of Madness.

And extremely well documented in W.A. Harbinson’s 1981 book Genesis

There was a Clive Cussler novel that posited Antarctica was simply Atlantis shifted way south, and the Nazis found it and used it as a U-Boat station.

Hey, I never said it was likely. Cussler also once decided that Alexander the Great’s coffin was buried under a hill in Texas.
