N. and S. Korea firing artillery at each other

I notice that somewhere between your assertions concerning your educational background and your rather pedestrian insults, you have conveniently neglected to address any of my actual points. Are you trying to pull a FinnAgain on me? Bad Monty.

I’ll ask you again: do you stand by your prior statement that “language is language,” and that there are no differences in levels of complexity? If we were to take a hypothetical Mandarin speaker, would you argue that it would be no more difficult for him to learn Russian than to learn English?

I’d take a well meaning right winger to Kim Jung Il any day. Why would an indifferent government official do anything to make my life better?

Why would I want someone who is unconcerned with my welfare having power over me?

So if it’s so great why are abusing Tibet so badly? Why can’t the Dali Lama go home? Why did they brutally murder peaceful student protesters at Tienanmen Square?

If they’re so glorious why are they going apeshit over a Noble prize?

The Chinese government is a brutal evil thug regime. They day it’s leaders die a slow painful death beginning for forgiveness for their crimes will be a good one.

Pieces of shit like you are traitors to humanity or stupid tools with neglectful whores for parents.

You are wilfully blind.

Oh hell, you’re not even asking the hard questions. Like: if it’s so great, why are workers treated so badly? Why do so many workers die? Why aren’t there better regulations there than in the West?

It’s great to ask why political opponents are being beaten up in a supposedly ideal system —but that’s more or less in the definition of “authoritarian regime”, so I really doubt that Commissar minds.

Are you alleging that Monty has been kicking you savagely in the face while you scamper about and declare victory after being shown to be an ignorant idiot?
Yeah, I can see that.

Let me get this straight…so all the “bad stuff” I’ve ever heard or read about North Korea, China, Vietnam, the USSR, Cuba and any other brutal communist-ideology-based regime is all Western propaganda?

Got it.

Whew. Its good to know I’ve been misled all this time…by a vast, Empire-led conspiracy from a supposedly open news media from countries all across the globe lo these many years.

I’ll have to keep that in mind the next time North Korea torpedoes a South Korean ship. Of course, that didn’t really happen, even after a UN-led investigation determined that it did (the UN, of course, being an Empire puppet regime), so I will modify my views accordingly.

Commisar, thank you. I now walk the Bright, Shining Path of the Glorious Socialist People’s Movement!

Now I want to eat some Chinese food.

And take it down with some Leninade:

See, as an Imperial Empire Guy From the Empire of Imperia, I would rather eat Chinese people. Preferably babies.

One a side note, I’m still amused that despite being caught lying so many times, Commissar’s reaction each time it to allege that someone else is lying, and when it’s shown that he’s lying on that point too, he moves on to another lie. I wish I knew whether, on that point, he’s trolling or just very stupid. I’m leaning towards the latter, since he really does seem to be the kind of stupid that’s too stupid to realize when he’s been handed his own head.

I’ll wager it’ll be easier to learn bad-but-passable English, but not because English lacks layers of metaphor or ephemeral poetry or crap like that - it’s because English does away with needless complexity like masculine/feminine terminology, tons of extra cases and declensions, T-V distinctions… basically boiling down the formal syntax. At the same time, English assimilates (well, grabs and jams into its pockets with the finesse of a candy-store shoplifter) metaphor and idiom from any other language it feels like.

English is a fairly difficult language to speak perfectly, but relatively few of us need to do so.
Anyway, you can dress it up all you like, but that fact that the world isn’t speaking Russian is in large part because nobody wants to be like Russia. Heck, there were even a lot of Russians who wanted to leave Russia behind.

The whole “Glorious People’s Republic” admiration society view of his for almost any government that’s been a communistic failure is what scares me.

I just don’t understand how someone that purports to adhere to logic could see the outcome of these governments any other way. Its a pretty strong anti-Western filter, apparently.

Wow.

Ideally, it would of course be best to have a socialist that cares deeply. However, if we can only get one or the other, I would tend to favor socialism over caring. A socialist making decisions by rote would still leave us better off than a right-wing nut that, because he cares so much, eliminates all social benefits and sends us off to die in a crusade against Muslims.

Oh? By “abuse,” you must mean investing heavily in its infrastructure, bettering the lives of its people, and generally introducing modernity and prosperity into what had heretofore been a festering savage hellhole. If that’s what passes for “abuse” these days, then the rest of us can only hope that one day China will “abuse” our nations too…

He can go home any time, as long as he doesn’t mind being justifiably arrested on the spot. That’s kind of something that tends to happen when you betray your people and try to start a bloody uprising against your own government. Once your rebellion fails, it makes sense to stay away for a while. I have no sympathy or concern for that dangerous pro-Western fanatic.

Ignorant question. There is footage of the actual confrontation easily available for viewing at one’s leisure; I suggest that you do so before making these claims. Hurling Molotov cocktails at the military does not qualify as “peaceful” in my book. The hooligans escalated the confrontation by resorting to force, and predictably got slapped down for their criminal activities. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want to criticize unprovoked governmental retribution against peaceful student protesters, then you’re barking up the wrong tree and need to turn your attention elsewhere. Here’s a much better target for your wrath:

“Apeshit?” Hardly. A convicted criminal and outspoken enemy of the Chinese people has been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize; they have good reason to be unhappy and to make said displeasure known. I doubt that the Empire would be very happy either if, for example, the award had gone to bin Laden. I applaud the glorious People’s Republic for taking a stand against this atrocity, and I commend the many wonderful nations that honored China’s call for boycotting the award ceremony.

No, not really. Sure, much of it has been vicious propaganda, but there’s likely been some truth thrown in here and there. It would be silly to claim that the Western press would not be subject to an institutionalized pro-Western bias in its reporting. It’s just human nature.

Once again, even a deep-seated bias is not the same thing as a conspiracy. The Western press presents exactly the slant that you and other Westerners expect to hear. It’s pro-capitalist, pro-representative democracy, and anti-authoritarian socialist. In other words, it’s a good reflection of your own cultural beliefs. If the New York Times began glorifying Marxism-Leninism and mocking the philosophy of popular voting, you’d probably be a bit bewildered and put off. You have cultural, political, and economic biases, and you expect your media to pander to said biases. This is not “bad” or “blameworthy” - it’s simply a fact of life that needs to be recognized.

That’s a lie, and you probably know it. The “UN-led investigation” was, in fact, led by South Korea and conducted exclusively in South Korea. It was joined by such “unbiased” parties as the American and British Empires, as well as the meddling Australians. To no one’s surprise, the “investigation” concluded with a word-for-word reiteration of the South Korean position on the incident:

This is not the type of neutrality that I would expect in this situation.

It’s just how the troll works. “Fascist good, democratic bad”. Any good a democratic society does can be handwaved away because it’s not totalitarian, any good a fascist society does it to be inflated beyond all rational measure and all the bad it does it to be ignored, rationalized away or obfuscated with a quick tu quoque subject-change.

Like the above few posts where I caught him lying again and again and again, and his response was to try to change the subject and/or lie more, even when all I had to do was cite the relevant posts to show he was lying. Using the same bit of dishonesty-via-cherrypicking that had already been pointed out in the original thread, while not even changing his tune, is my favorite bit and a good example of the way he trolls. He doesn’t care if he convinces anybody, he doesn’t care if he makes any sense, he just wants to spew a specific line of bullshit and try to piss people off.
“Fascist good, democratic bad”, and that’s all there is to it.

He’s just trolling.
He’s rather obviously realized that the community of the Dope is one of rationalistic, fact-based people who generally oppose tyranny (despite debates between those on the left and those on the right), so he’s decided to troll this place. Like a Holocaust denier going to a Jewish message board, his “I am an authoritarian communist” thread here serves the same function.
His Pravda-speak is just a script he uses to try to annoy people, because he knows that nobody with two brain cells that are on speaking terms would ever take him seriously. He’s trolling for hostile responses.

It could be, but seems doubtful. It’s pretty clear that he’s either a troll, or profoundly stupid and possibly more than a little cracked out. I mean, honestly, can you picture any person who hated and feared the USSR as much as he hates and fears the United States to have stuck around there if they could’ve gotten out? And here, Commy could hop a plane and be in China in a matter of hours. Or take a bus to Canada and hop a plane to Cuba. Or hop a plane to Putin’s Russia, which he loves so much. Instead he sits in America and eats McDonalds, drinks Coca Cola, and rants on a message board.

By his own admission, he’s been both a libertarian and a fascist (before settling back onto communist flavored fascism). Normal, intelligent, sane adults don’t go through political developments where they support absolute freedom and then absolute tyranny before deciding that, yah, after all China and the USSR are/were pretty fucking awesome.

High school children and young college kids, however, often do. It’s fairly common to see young children go through such rapid shifts in ideology as they ‘try them on for size’. Go to church regularly one year, get into Ayn Rand the next year, etc… That’s why I still think that our friendly neighborhood troll is a college freshman or sophomore who grew up as a goth and realized that communistic fascism is much more shocking. He’s got just enough knowledge to have a very, very basic idea of what’s going on and make a fool out of himself if he tries to debate above his level, but a complete lack of any cohesive and body of knowledge. He seems to still be in the fluid rather than the crystalline stage of intellectual development (e.g. International law is largely composed of binding treaties that gain force from mutual ratification, so international statutes can’t apply to a country if they’re not ratified by that country. What, the Rome Statute does? I’d like to change the subject now please.)

I’m sure that in a little bit more he’ll be back with a new name and a new IP address telling us in about the wonders of theocracy and the Glory of the Kingdom of God, or what have you.

For instance:

He knows this is a lie, because in the other thread I cited the multi-national investigation and he lied and claimed it was conducted by South Korea and when I pointed out it wasn’t, he quickly changed the subject. Now he’s back with the same lie. In fact, the cite he gives says he’s lying. But he still uses the lie.
He’s just a liar and a troll, it’s what he does.

So when I look at my warning list, I notice that every single one of them (including the one I just got) were in threads involving FinnAgain so I just put him on ignore hoping that this will make it easier to participate in threads without getting warnings. Debates are simply not productive when Finn gets involved, at least for me they’re not.

I’ve pitted him before and I don’t see any need to do so again, its not going to change anything.

Hopefully threads wont seem too disjointed with Finn on ignore.

Uh, you do realize that **FinnAgain **was not the one pitted?

Earlier, I suggested he try being “Captain USA, ultrapatriot”. If he watches enough American Dad and can get the Stan Smith schtick down, it might be entertaining.

So, Damuri… you posted to this thread for the sole purpose of saying, “Gosh, I sure hope me putting FinnAgain on ignore (which I simply must since he brings out just the worst in me) won’t make this thread too hard to follow.”
Aren’t we such a brave yet transparent little soldier.

Yeah, I was going to add that Bryan Ekers did pit the commie apologists in plural, so I was going to say to **Damuri ** that the roast pit here was for him too. I was not sure but after that last jab it is clear.

I’m think Damuri was wistfully unaware of who was being pitted.

Yes, that is certainly the impression I’ve developed during my thankfully limited interactions with the pompous buffoon. It does not appear that FinnAgain is actually interested in debating anything at all in an intellectual manner; his sole reason for participating appears to be a stifling of discourse via a handful of disingenuous and slimy tricks (hysterical name-calling, ignoring any and all facts that contradict his own biases, incessant parroting of questions that have been consistently answered numerous times in the same thread, and so forth). His posts ooze narcissism and ignorance in equal measures. Were I to use such terms, I would certainly label him a “troll” in the true internet meaning of the term.

Oh, well. I doubt that the ignorant little parasite will be going away any time soon, so I suppose that we will have to learn to filter out his shrill antics and lowbrow diatribes. Perhaps one day he will grow tired of undermining debates and move on to bigger and better things (in my own mind, I picture him as a wonderfully stereotypical deranged street-corner preacher; I think that would be a logical evolution for him).

Nah, as even the moderator has failed to be persuaded by your “logic” get used to the fact that you have no respect from serious posters; the fact that only one has come, not to **support **your drivel but to complain against **Finn **is really pathetic.

Well, yes, I figured Damuri deserved it for defending North Korea for no other reason than he saw some vague analogy to Israel/Palestine.

“I’m not apologizing for North Korea, just that they’re like the Palestinians, and South Korea and the U.S. are like Israel, and since Israel is bad, South Korea and the U.S. must be bad, mmmmkay?”

What a schmuck, though at this point I figure his schmuckitude at least stems from sincere beliefs, while Commissar being pegged as some early college kid who’s going through his “Che!” phase (having already run through his “Ayn Rand” phase) sounds bang-on to me.
