Name a film set in this state!

Rats! If only I hadn’t had to answer the office phone whilst typing the above.

South Carolina it is.

Delaware – Dead Poet’s Society

Rhode Island

I have an answer to Rhode Island -

Me, Myself and Irene. Jim Cary plays a Rhode Island state trooper.

Heres another one: North Dakota

Rhode Island: Me, Myself and Irene

New Jersey (missed above): Atlantic City

How about Arkansas?

North Dakota = Fargo

Oh, let’s continue with Arkansas.

Arkansas – The Town That Dreaded Sundown

Washington

(Not so sure about Fargo. Despite the title, isn’t it actually set in Minnesota?)

Washington: Singles

How about West Virginia?

The firemen in Trespass were from Arkansas, although most of the film took place in Illinois.

How about Ohio?

Damn slow board! West Virginia = Matewan

Ohio

Ohio - Bye Bye Birdie is set in Sweet Apple, Ohio

Georgia

Georgia: Gone With The Wind.

Utah

Georgia = Deliverance

Montana.

(Major League was set in Ohio)

Question

Does the film have to be filmed in the state that it is set in?

Sometimes a film is set in a place but filmed someplace else entirely.

Example The end of Far and Away is set in the Oklahoma territory for one of the famous land runs. However it was not filmed in Oklahoma.

So set there, filmed there or both?

Evel Knievel began in Butte, Montana. (It was filmed there, too.)

Oh! How about Wyoming?

Just to echo Otto, Major League was set in Ohio. The baseball game scenes were filmed in Wisconsin (County Stadium, to be exact). I was there!

The OP does use the word “partially”. Fargo does have scenes in North Dakota, and Major League has scenes in Milwaukee.

I was wondering also if the movie actually has to be shot in the state, or only stated that in the script?

Wyoming - Spencer’s Mountain
Florida?
