Wyoming = Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
It only has to be set in the state, its not necessary that they were physically in the state itself. Another good example would be Phone Booth - this would qualify as being set in New York, although I understand it was filmed mostly in California.
Florida = Wild Things & Adaptation
West Virginia
I think we’ve already done West Virginia (Matewan), but October Sky was also set in WV.
Mississippi
Florida = Absence of Malice, Ulee’s Gold
Mississippi = Mississippi Burning
North Carolina?
Oops, sorry.
Mississippi = Mississippi Burning
Arizona?
Let’s go with North Carolina
Raising Arizona – Arizona
Cape Fear – N. Carolina
New Hampshire
New Hampshire - The Hotel New Hampshire
Missouri?
OK, but for the record, that’s twice I’ve stepped on one of your answers. I’m sorry, this thread just moves too fast. And I’ll mention My Darling Clementine, Tombstone, and Wyatt Earp for Arizona!
The Missouri Breaks
To echo John Carter…
Utah?
Arizona? Easy, Raising Arizona. National Lampoon’s Vacation also has parts in Arizona, as does Rain Man.
I also meant to comment in my last post that the movie Moving doesn’t do our fine state any justice.
I think my South Dakota suggestion got lost in the shuffle as nobody has come up with anything for it yet.
Utah = SLC Punk
South Dakota
South Dakota - Badlands
Vermont
fruitbat mentioned North By Northwest for South Dakota.
Wasn’t Dances with Wolves set in the Dakota Territory? Does that count for South Dakota?
My turn!
Um…Indiana
Vermont - White Christmas is set in Vermont
Indiana - Hoosiers
Connecticut?
Indiana - Hoosiers
Has Oregon been used?
Missouri: Waiting for Guffman
Louisana?
