There are several of these. For example, “Name a city that doesn’t have an “A” in it’s name. Bet you can’t!”
What is up with that? Does it trigger something that adds your PC to their slave connection?
Trout
Salmon
Tilapia
Crappie
Barracuda
Swordfish
Shark
Just off the top of my head
ETA: Oh, some spam I haven’t seen. No idea.
Are you talking about on Facebook? They just want you to share/comment/like the post so they get your information and/or you add to their numbers
“Fish” huh? I prefer to spell that word “ghoti.”
So the answer is “they all have G in their name.”
Humuhumunukunukuapua’a
Tuna. Mackerel. Catfish.
Zephyr Cove.
I don’t know how it works, but I wouldn’t be surprised if advertisers and such can utilize comments on a post to target their advertising, and that having lists of thousands of people who reflectively interact with every dumb question they’re presented with is an extra boon.
Thanks to you and naita. I don’t recall if I’ve seen it anywhere other than Facebook, but it would probably serve the same function elsewhere.
It’s called Status Phishing and the OP of the FB post is doing one of two things:
-
Showing his prospective advertisers how many responses he typically gets in a 24hr period (using these types of posts will increase that number).
-
Collecting “Likes”. Once the OP gets to a certain number, he hands the account over to an advertiser for a fee. The advertiser renames the account to show off his product and then promotes it. Anyone who liked the original post or posts, now sees the promoted item in their newsfeed.
Ah.
GRUNION!
Which has a G in it and doesn’t answer the OP. I just really wanted to say GRUNION all of a sudden.
hehehe… GRUNION!!!
I infer from the (eventual) responses that you’re talking about some Facebook thing. Some context might have been nice; what you posted, on its own, looked more like a thread game, not an IMHO, and had no apparent connection to Facebook (except for the unfortunate Facebookers who saw the same spam as you and made the mistake of remembering it).
But yeah. Those stupid games/surveys/whatever are farming likes. Unless they’re up to something more far-reaching and nefarious.
I had trouble finding a fish that did have a g in its name. First one I came up with was fugu.
Bluegill, largemouth, gar and Abe Vigoda.
But yeah, those stupid Facebook posts are annoying.
Grouper, Flying Fish, Angelfish, Anglerfish…
Woman: Do all fish have a “G” in them?
Man: Yah, I think most of 'em do.
AAaaaahh! I can even hear the schmaltzy background music!
I don’t get it.
Oh, very good.
Thank you. I’ve been mystified as to what the point of those idiotic things was. The questions were so stupid that it was hard to imagine anyone would post them seriously.
I also hate hate hate those mathematical questions in picture form and “which tank fills up first”? But those actually require some thought.
