I’m writing a futuristic book and my lead character is sort of a cross between a P.I. and a mercenary. Anyone have any good suggestions for what that kind of person could be called? It should be a relatively attractive title as mercenary doesn’t have a positive connotation. Thanks.

Royalties? What’s that? Oh, that’s what people who actually sell the books they write make. I only do it for the form rejection letters I receive from agents.
Hmm, I’m not sure how Phaidra Johnson, Fefaness or Phaidra Johnson, Wikolath works on a business card. I’m sorry, I wasn’t clear. My character has a name, she just needs a title other than private investigator or mercenary.
What about security contractor? My husband suggested that one.
Well, I have a character who calls herself a “freelance security consultant”.
