We have found premises for our bar and will probably sign the lease next week. It’s a huge space with a wonderfully large balcony overlooking the Deep Water Harbour and so now we need a name for it. Any suggestions?
Oh, my fiance wants to name it Daybreak as it will most likely be open til daybreak every night.
What kind of bar is it? I’ve always wanted a Dance Club type bar. I will name it “Club Baby Seals”
Here’s a pic of the outside of it and you can see it in the background of this pic taken from the deck of a cruise ship. It’s the yellow building with the green roof.
It will be a regular bar with probably grilled lunches on cruise ship days and two pool tables, a dart board, cheap and cheerful. I want to get a sail with the logo to shade the deck. Something that will be visible from the cruise ship deck to attract all those lovely tourists!
BTW, if it had been a club, Club Baby Seals is the best name ever!
First of all–congratulations and best of luck. As for a name, I suggest Hiyo Pals.
I like Daybreak also.
Well personally I think you should call it the Aren’t I a Lucky Bastard Compared To You Bar
Begrudging congrats.
Professor Biddee’s Funtime Factory–O-Rama. With Beer.
If not, then yeah, I like “Daybreak” too.
Kokomo. And make sure the Beach Boys song is on the juke.
The Safe Harbour (a sensible pun)
All Night Long (describes a feature)
Ye Olde Tavern (pseudo historic)
The Tourist Trap (just for laughs)
Daybrake (there’s nothing like a mistake to bring in punters. “Did you know it’s spelt Daybreak?” Why, that’s alert of you! Can I get you a drink to celebrate?"
Callahan’s crosstime saloon?
Pickabar.
The Shoal?
I like Kokomo, only problem is there is already a boat tour called Kokomo Cats on the island.
I like the idea of Daybrake but I can just imagine the flak from our friends as well as the ppl who would think that it was a mistake by the sign company (been known to happen fairly frequently).
Thanks for the congrats. I know a number of bars that have failed in that location in the past few years so I’m cautiously optimistic about our chances of having it work. It’s a big gamble, so pretty scary but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and if we can make it work (and we have some great ideas and a lot of support), hopefully one day we will be fairly well off.
Here’s the deal though, I have enough money to do it on my own (an inheritance), but I have a couple of interested investors. Is it better off doing it myself and then keeping all profit (and absorbing any loss) or sharing both?
The Strand
The Dockyard (to capitalize on another local attraction, if possible)
1/11…independence day
This one may be more suitable for a hole in the wall pub and not a vivacious dance bar, but if I’ve always wanted to have my own bar and name it The End O’ The World.
Share the risks and share the profits. If all goes well (as you hope it does) you are letting others share the wealth. If things go badly you don’t slide down the tubes entirely.
As to the name I guess “Deep Water Bar” has been taken or I would grab it. There are lots of songs called “Deep Water” including an Aussie one by Richard Clapton and I would play them all each day.
Oh and www.deepwaterbar.com is still available.
Using your 2 photos as inspiration, I suggest The Palm and Rainbow.
The Bar of Gold has always tickled my fancy.
I’ve considered this as a band name, but it would be a fun bar name too: The Drunk Uncles
I suppose “Biddee’s Biddette” is already taken?
