Man, that is one tiny dog.
I’ll second this one! Great name for a great dog!
Thanks for all your suggestions! I loved Erin, but it was vetoed by my husband. He came up with Clover, and Jasper, and assorted other names.
We both came up with Lucy independently, so my little girl is named Lucy! She has a scar on her belly, which indicates she has been spayed. She’s so well behaved. Already housebroken, which is a huge plus.
Yesterday we went looking for signs and didn’t find any, and we also checked the local papers, both Saturday and Sunday. Next weekend we are taking her to the vet to get her shots, and scan her for a chip.
I’m about to look online, but truthfully, I hope I don’t find anything. She’s such a sweetie! And Blaze (who definitely is NOT tiny - LOL!) is tolerating her fairly well, if a little jealous. I’m making sure to give him plenty of attention, too.
Thanks again for the great ideas. ITD, sorry I was a little slow on the uptake! Definitely funny.
She’s very pretty.
I honestly would put a bit more effort into making sure she doesn’t have frantic owners someplace. Could be they’re on vacation, she was being cared for by someone else, they were travelling through - I dunno, something. Just to be sure. Most humane societies keep a database of lost & found dogs; I’d leave a description and contact info with them too. She could easily have lost her collar, and “black lab/mixes” are awfully common.
I lost a cat for almost three weeks, once. I’d gone on vacation and a neighbor was taking care of the critters. He had a collar, but no tag - instead I’d written my phone number in laundry marker on his collar. He was at someone elses’ house, she’d put a couple of signs up, she said, but perhaps they blew down or something by the time I got back and went looking. I only got him back because she decided to get him a new collar and saw the phone number when she took the old one off. I was really glad to get him back, because I was worried and sad.
Keep checking the papers, put some signs up…I hope you don’t find an owner and she gets to stay with you!
Feel free to ignore my wet-blanket advice.
