Mebbe…
Bobby Van (also host of “Make Me Laugh”) / Elaine Joyce
-or-
Bobby Troup / Julie Dixon
Try your luck at:
Pcubed was right the first time- it’s definitely Bobby Van and Elaine Joyce.
Except for TV game shows, however, I can’t think of anything I ever saw those two in… except for the incredibly bad movie musical “Lost Horizon,” in which Bobby Van co-starred.
Probably Bobby Van…I remember seeing him on “Tattletales” often. But I think Bobby Troup was married to Julie London, not Dixon; they both appeared in “Emergency”
Bobby Troup is more famous for writing the song “Route 66”. He was married to Julie London, who used to be married to Jack Webb. Apparently, it must have been an amiable divorce because both Troup and London appeared in two Webb series “Dragnet” (as guests) and “Emergency” (as part of the regular cast.)
Bobby Van was married to Elaine Joyce and passed away in 1980 of a brain tumor. He started as a teen actor in musicals for MGM. His last big part in show business was as host of “Make Me Laugh”
Bobby Troup and Julie London were also frequent guests on “Tattletales,” though.
London was quite a hottie when she was not dressed down for her no-nonsense “Dixie McCall” role. (You shoulda seen her on “Tattletales.”)
Sorry to digress, (believe me, i wouldn’t do it unless it was some HEAVY DUTY trivia) but Bobby Van was some musical dancer, i think in the 50’s, and according to my sources, he was about 10 million times hotter at it than Gene Kelly ever thought of being! Wow! He sure looked like some dork on make me laugh! Whoda thot???
