Name that big-band tune, please

This has been making me crazy. This is possibly an Ellington piece, but I can’t figure it out. It’s typically played VERY slowly, with little or no slurring of notes. No, it’s not The Mooche, though that’s a good guess. It’s even slower than that. Very moody. Big prizes for the winner.

St. James Infirmary Blues?

That’s all we have to go on? It’s very slow and possibly by Ellington?

Could be Mood Indigo or Solitude I guess.

And yet you nailed it with Mood Indigo. Thanks!

Amazing.

Though the energy level on Mood Indigo is so low, I’m playing “In the Mood” now.

OK, where’s my big prize? :grinning:

Actually, my wife told me that my humming of the tune was NOT Mood Indigo, so I may be back to wondering.

“In a Sentimental Mood”? “Warm Valley”? “I Got it Bad (and That Ain’t Good)”? “Come Sunday”? “Isfahan”? “Lotus Blossom”? “Chelsea Bridge”? “Blood Count”?

You should listen to Nina Simone’s version.

@Chefguy
If you remember the tune could you hum it into
https://vocaroo.com or recreate it in https://onlinesequencer.net/

You get to hold the Woody Woodpecker balloon in the Thanksgiving Day parade! :smiley:

You need a shot of “Main Stem” or “Cottontail”.

So … what was it ?

Don’t know, yet. I keep waiting for the jazz station to play it so I can check with the website.

Could you recreate it in https://vocaroo.com or https://onlinesequencer.net/ ?
