Okay, this has been driving me crazy for years, and I figure the collective wisdom of the SDMB is my best hope for putting my curiosity to bed. Even the might Google has failed me. Help me, Dopers, you are my only hope…
Back in the early 80’s, during my weekday morning cartoon fest before school, there was what I suppose was a cartoon music video of sorts, though it was for no song that I’ve ever heard, before or since, outside of the 7:30am to 8:30am time bracket. I saw it exactly twice. It freaked me out the first time (I was, like, 6 or 7), and the second time I saw the beginning, I changed the channel. My memory is hazy, but this is what I can recall:
The video essentially told the “story” of some bizarre girl, likely a teenager. In the beginning, she walked around with a boombox, listening to music. I believe she was wearing purple pants, but I could be mistaken. I think her parents may have yelled at her, though I don’t recall exactly. Later on, she starts walking around, but now her head has become the radio. Later still, we see a tiny planet, with a house on it. In fact, the house is so tiny, the house is only thing that fits on it. We then see the girl, now huge, still with the radio-for-a-head, sitting on another tiny planet. Somebody (her father?) floats by through space, and she eats him (if I recall correctly). The song playing throughout is some generic rock song, and the only line I can even partially remember is one snippet that goes “…the music was so loud, blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.” I can vaguely recall the tune associated with this line, not that it does me any good, since you can’t really hear me humming here.
From the above description, you can see why searching for it is so difficult. Typing “that weird music video thing with the radio-headed girl who eats her teeny dad on a little planet” doesn’t work so well. Nobody I’ve spoken with has any recollection of any such thing, and I’d suspect I dreamt the whole thing, if not for my having seen it twice.
So, does this ring even a teensy bell for anyone? Am I losing my mind? Did I hallucinate my entire childhood, or something?
