I’ve broken 33k today, which puts me quite on schedule. This is going to be another productive day - 2k words, quite likely, due to my scenes getting longer and longer. I hit 1500 words today (I haven’t finished writing, yet) on two scenes I didn’t think would combine to better than 800 or 900. And I’ve got 400-600 more words left to write.
I’m not sure if I’m just getting into more of a groove, or if the scenes demand to be longer, now.
34244 words, total. 1575 a day benchmark for the rest of the month to hit 50k. Should be easy, since I’m averaging 1730, and my scenes are getting longer.
Still fighting in Word War, so trying to decide whether to write a sequel, write a prequel, write a post-modernist sequel (with completely unrelated characters, plot, theme, setting and genre), or just pad what I’ve got shamelessly.
Should I mention my actual word count now? 101,281. You may hate me, so long as you fear me.
(And there are still plenty of people ahead of me … )
32,005 words and I’m still hopeful that I’ll think of something to write today, despite it being close to 9pm.
I’m still waiting for that golden moment where everything falls together and it’s no trouble at all writing more than 1,667 in a flash. This morning I had an unrelated very minor epiphany (credible and incredible are antonyms!) so maybe my brain is warming up…
Hoo boy. You really don’t have a life, now do you?
Bizarrely, NaNo seemed to have dropped my word count a bit from yesterday. But I’ve uploaded today’s and all is right with the world: about 6281 words to go. I’ll settle for crossing the line this time around.
It’s the Oxford-Nottingham Word War that’s doing it. Nottingham’s ML and her cohorts put a lot of effort into organizing it, last year, and then Oxford went and won it. So this year’s competition is a real grudge match. Compared to Oxford versus Nottingham, the participants in World War I were slightly miffed at each other.
I’m beginning to question a bit of plot I planned to include later on. Not because I don’t want to include it, but because I’m having a hard time working out how to make it not stupid. Yeah, yeah, quantity, not quality, but…I don’t want to sacrifice quality too much.
I’m at 31,5xx as of last night. Last week I went from a comfortable few thousand words of padding to a 4k word debt, but I started my climb again last night. If I can write as much tonight as I did yesterday, I’ll be only a few hundred words off of pace.
This has been a slow day. <_< I’m still 46 words short of the daily quota (currently at 1519 words), and I definitely want to hit that before calling it quits for tonight.
On the other hand, I just realised I’d left a dangling plot thread 3 or 4 chapters ago, so I have something to give me a running start tomorrow, so hopefully tomorrow won’t be as slow.
Another couple of thou today leaves me on 47,783. One more good stint will finish it, tho’ we’re going to see the Bond movie tomorrow night so it won’t be then. And, what’s kinda handy, we have a fancy printer in the office that will double-side and staple it for me.
39769 words, total. 1843 today. Down to 1461 a day from here out. Going to hit the climax on Saturday, at this rate…and probably end up with 7k words for the denument, which sounds like it could be about right, or it could involve a lot of padding. <_<
Who managed to get any writing done over Thanksgiving? I celebrated the holiday season by engaging in a metric buttload of carnage, myself. Nothing like cutting someone’s nose off before family dinner.
I’m not in NaNoWriMo this year, for several reasons, not least of which is the fact that I’ll be travelling for much of November and unable to write. Still, I started writing the other day and wrote 8000+ words in two days. I don’t even know where the story is going, I just know that I really really like my main character. I hope she’s able to handle whatever I’m going to throw at her. If I know me, it won’t be easy.
50067 words verified. Still four days left to tinker with it if I like, but for now, I’m just sitting back and admiring the last 26 days’ work. That gives me a sorta “wow” feeling, especially as in the event I wasn’t able to steal much time from my employer to get this done.
I did. I got 2700 words in Thanksgiving day - mostly about a giant ferret stalking the heroes during a shared nightmare- which made up for only writing four hundred words the day before. I immediately fell behind again yesterday, only getting in 700 words after I got home from shopping If I can find another 1200 words for the day, I’ll be at my goal of 41,675 by midnight. We’ll see…There’s only so many words you can put towards drowning two four-year-old boys in a river. you guys know this is horror novel, right?
The climax of my NaNo resulted in a major, major change for one of the protagonists. So, now I’ve hit the point when I should be revealing that change, and…I don’t know how to do it without giving the game away. :smack:
I’ve only got 6k and change words left, though, so I shouldn’t have much, if any, trouble finishing the 50k, once I work it out.
