Nashville, Season 2

Some of us are digging the soapiness of it – T-Bone Burnett isn’t, per this Hollywood Reporter interview about why he left the show.

I really enjoyed Robin Roberts interview the other night with the cast of Nashville for that CMA award show preshow.

I think I 'll name my next female dog rayna James. has a nice ring to it.

Honestly, I’d prefer it as a straight-up drama (and I think it would do better ratings-wise). But I still watch despite the soapiness.

I must protest the way shacking up has taken over as the main character interactions in this show. I preferred the business manuvering and political wheeling and dealing of last season.

That being said, “The Wentworths *love *me!” More correct than you thought, Juliette.

I watched the show on DVR - good lord yes. I wish it was more about the music and the backstage maneuvering, not the soapy stuff.

xizor - It’s Belle Meade, after the Belle Meade mansion. They raised steeplechasers at Belle Meade. And the polo grounds used to be in Percy Warner park, but not but the steeplechase grounds. There is a polo team in Nashville- a former boss of mine plays on it. Oh look - on the charity even Orrin Ingram is hosting. John Ingram and I both took dressage lessons from the same trainer.

Haven’t seen this week’s episode yet, but I heard this morning that ratings are down. They should listen to us! More backstage drama and political maneuvering; less bed hopping; and bring back T-Bone!

While I agree with the chants for less bed hopping and more backstabbing, I did experience an “oh snap!” moment at the Juliette shocker at the end of the episode .

Yes, I stand corrected. Please forgive my poor spelling.

Yeah, I’ll admit that I did not see that coming.

I loathe the soapiness of it. I also wish they’d show more backstage-type things that didn’t involve people’s sex lives. A little sprinkling of it can be really intriguing, but this show goes way overboard.

I had no idea that T-Bone was married to the Exec Producer, Callie Khouri.

It’s like they read our minds – an episode more about the music business and the experience of performing than who’s sleeping with who.

One question, though – when Scarlett called someone at the very end, who did she call? Was it Avery or were we just supposed to think it was Avery?

I thought I heard her say “Mama,” but I could be wrong.
That character annoys me so much, that character looking like a scared rabbit for the 800 millionth time annoys me even more. But the rest of the episode was pretty ok and I do want to hear all of Juliette’s “Dream” song.

Scarlett definitely said “Mama” to the person she called. That would be Deacon’s sister, right? I wonder if she’s going to make an appearance.

What husband would come home to a pregnant wife bleeding all over the bathroom and not immediately call an ambulance or take her to the ER himself?

The Mayor, that’s who. Just give her some tea and send her to bed.

Well, if he did, the doctor would know she hadn’t just had a miscarriage. I’m sure she begged him not to.

ETA: And I (obviously) missed the “Mama” at the start of the phone call. Hm. Yes, it will be interesting to meet her.

That’s my point. Mayor has not been shown to be a stupid or naive character, he has to at least be suspicious.

On a related note, I wonder where you can buy pig’s blood in a handy margarine container.

Agreed (I finally watched the ep last night). In my case I think it’s Scarlett’s voice that annoys the crap out of me: I don’t care for her singing voice, and her speaking voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

Anyone else have a feeling Scarlett’s going to wind up on drugs? She won’t turn to alcohol, not after being around her Uncle Deacon, but I could see her becoming an addict to get through the tour.

I follow the actress who plays her, Clare Bowen, on Twitter (@clarembee) – it’s a relief to learn that’s totally a role she plays, not her personality.

I’m just not buying Teddy being such an asshole to Deacon. Yes, I get that he’s jealous, but he also loves Maddie and would not allow himself to act out to that degree.

And, whoa, is Juliette starting to get her shit together a little bit? Couldn’t believe she’d realize that the bajillionaire was bad for her based on one little comment from Avery. (Is she going to go after him now, or are they really just friends?)

And, for those who watched the preview,

Who’s going to get killed?
