I now see there is no hope for you and the “deal is off”! Consider yourself lucky this isn’t the Pit!

I can’t disagree more; you cannot declare all beers to be simply tolerable at best. In your opinion, that could well be true, but it isn’t some great truth of the universe. You simply do not like beer and drink it as a way to consume alcohol.
On the contrary, you will find many people who enjoy the flavors to be found in beers. I work hard at homebrewing, tinkering with recipes to bring out good qualities in beer. I do not drink for alcohol content or simply to get a buzz.
Honestly, if that’s all you drink beer for, get some kind of flavored liqueur or find a vodka that’s nearly tasteless, and have at it.
Aw, y’all shouldn’t go after a guy just for liking cheap American beers. Although I’m not a fan, I don’t recall Natural Ice as being as bad as some people here claim. Still, there are better.
In Bloomington you ought to be able to get Little Kings Cream Ale. That was always my second favorite of the Cincinnati beers (my favorite, Royal Amber, isn’t made anymore).
Rolling Rock isn’t too bad either, and should be available there, although it’s not quite to my tastes.
Even though a lot of people think of it as a joke, unless the taste has changed over the years, Iron City ain’t bad. I don’t know if you can get it in Bloomington, though.
Then there’s the aforementioned Pabst Blue Ribbon.
If you’re ever in Texas, try Shiner Bock.
And yeah, Honey Brown doesn’t do much for me either.
Hey, I’m not saying it’s wonderful or anything - he said he doesn’t like bitter beers. I was merely listing mild beers that I drank on my way to learning how to appreciate beer.
Oh, wait. No good beers? Why friggin bother then? Get some Everclear and put the stuff in your beverage of choice.
My first pitting, and I’ll get it for feeling the cheapest beer is better than the medium range beers (corona, heinekens, guinness, etc). I will keep my eye out for that thread if anyone wants to start it.
I still don’t believe there are any ‘good tasting beers’. Most alcoholic beverages are not good tasting, beer included.
Ferret Herder: I wasn’t attacking your recommendation. But since the poor benighted soul pointedly said he didn’t like it, I was trying to be reassuring. Now that I see the full depths of darkness, I think an intervention is probably what’s needed.
Ahh, the joys of Natty Light. It brings to mind fond memories of my freshman dorm, which was a convenient 5 minute walk to 7-11. Back when we were young and just happy to get our hands on alcohol.
Wes, I was going to say maybe you’re just not cut out for beer, perhaps it’s not for you, and then I saw
There are plenty of good tasting alcoholic beverages that aren’t beer. Other than beer, what have you been drinking? I’m sure we’d all be more than happy to suggest various mixed drinks if you give us an idea of what your tastes are.
Well, at least you’re being open-minded.
That’s why Og invented wine coolers.
Chicks dig 'em. You might too!
I understand that if you go to Amsterdam and take the brewery tour, they let you pet the skunks.
Wine coolers aren’t bad, nor is boones farm wine-related beverages.
I wonder what i’m setting myself up for. I don’t like most beers except cheap natural Ice. And i like wine coolers. And i’m extremely cheap. Now everyone knows it.
I retract my statement about ‘no good alcoholic beverages’. What i should’ve said was ‘there are no good alcoholic beverages with a proof over 12 that aren’t loaded with sugar’ that would’ve been more to the point.
Never had a properly aged Scotch then, eh?
What is the proper age for a Scotch?
Drinking good beer is like any other hobby. You need to know what you’re looking for and looking at. I imagine there are people who really enjoy watching sharpshooting and archery at the Olympics, but I find it boring because I simply have no interest in the subtleties of the event.
Beer is the same way. You don’t know what to look for in a good brew, and I’m willing to bet you don’t really know an ale from a stout from a hefeweizen. Not a big deal, but remember that these boards are about fighting ignorance.
Natty is not the best beer around. Not by a long shot. It has one purpose in life, and that’s a cheap buzz. If it’s the only thing you like then, by all means, drink it. I just think you’re missing out on a lot of good stuff.
Coincidentally, the legal age in Indiana is 16.
At least 10 years-old, but the older the better. Personally, I won’t buy one younger than 12.
Glenmorangie 10
Bowmore 17
Highland Park 18
Glenlivet 22
sigh
Moving this from IMHO to MPSIMS.
And by the way, this is the best damn beer in the world. Now that that’s been settled, would you like me to go ahead and close this thread now?
Does it go down smooth like Natural Ice? I think that is why I consider Natural Ice the ‘best beer’, it isn’t bitter. Hell it even says ‘goes down smooth’ on the case and I never noticed that before. Its not just an advertising ploy. Its not good tasting but its not bitter like most beers.
