NBC Cancels SOUTHLAND - Before It Airs!

I loved the show and was happy to see it coming back.
However, after filming six episodes, and not yet airing one this season, the show has already been canceled.

Damn.

Maybe they will be aired later. Some shows have done this. Why not? They often have nothing at all to air and those shows have been paid for.

They usually do this type of dump in the summer, which is a looooong time from now. Given that it’s the second season, waiting a year just to unload a few eps of a series that was struggling to begin with makes next to no sense at all.

A DVD release and/or streaming on the NBC website, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on seeing them broadcast…

That’s a pity. What with ER gone [sob] it was the only drama I enjoyed and looked forward to returning.

Fox did the same thing to Tru Calling a few years ago. 6 eps in the can. They did later air 5 of them in the late spring, after the regular season had ended. The 6th and final ep didn’t air because it was set at Christmastime. They must’ve thought that would confuse people, because, I mean, you can’t watch shows with Christmas decorations any other time of year…

Can’t say I’m too terribly sorry to see SouthLAnd go, though. The shaky cam was annoying, and it wasn’t very fun, just dark and depressing all the time. I don’t mind dark, but depressing… ick.

Those assholes. I’m boycotting NBC. Tina’s just gonna have to come over and act out 30 Rock episodes in my bedroom from now on.

In all seriousness, when I found it was going to be aired on Fridays this season, I let myself mourn early. It was The Shield Lite, but that’s still lightyears above anything else on network tv. With all the stupid cop shows that keep getting made, why can’t they ever keep the good ones? Anyone remember The Inside?
