Not counting the BCS games, other bowl games or conference championship games, what college games are most important for you to see? And if you won’t be able to see that game, which game is most important for your favorite team to win?
Mine is Auburn vs. LSU. It should help establish whether Auburn has any legitimate hopes for a National Championship run. And it’s early enough in the season that even if Auburn loses it, they can still shoot for SEC championship.
After that, the Iron Bowl: not really a bowl game as such but the chance for “Fear The Thumb” to become a reality.
No question, Texas vs. Ohio State, September 9. #1 vs #2. Defending national champ vs. preseason #1. 'Horns beat 'em in Columbus… happy to do the same in Austin!
West Virginia - Louisville. Besides likely deciding the Big East’s BCS representative, it may be the only thing between the Mountaineers and a title game appearance. That’s thanks to their very soft schedule. But in the state of college football today, a cakewalk 12-0 is still more impressive than a hard-fought 11-1.
Oh, and I feel compelled to add that the WVU - UL game will be the rematch of last year’s incredible 4th-quarter-comeback, triple-overtime victory by WVU. Fans of both sides have been waiting since last October for this one.
According to College Football News, the Gators will play in SEVEN of the forty best games of the year. I think the best game of those seven will be at Auburn. It’s in the middle of a brutal four game stretch, and it’ll be interesting to see how well our team is holding up by that point. Plus it’s been a few years since we’ve gotten to play Auburn, and that’s always a fun game. Other games I’m looking forward to include the usual suspects of the SEC, like Georgia-Tennessee, LSU-Auburn, Auburn-Georgia, etc. There’s always at least one fantastic game a week in the SEC. Ohio State-Texas will be great of course. Miami-FSU is always exciting. Wow, only two more weeks until college football starts!
