God damn, I cannot stand Neal Boortz! I work in an office with several other people, and our boss keeps him on the radio all day. Please, for the sake of my sanity, shut up! Shut up shut up shut up! How can you yell all day, every day, about the same goddamn thing! Day in, day out it’s about how Obama is the devil and is going to kill us all with his health insurance plan, or how Fairtax is from Jesus our Lord and Savior and will redeem our Great Nation! Oh, and the government is evil and hates babies.
Why do people voluntarily listen to his crap?
Could headphones (noise-canceling or music-filled) be the solution you seek?
Because the odds of Neal reading this thread and taking your advice are slim indeed.
Unfortunately, I can’t wear headphones while working, as I have to be able to hear phones ring and answer them quickly.
I listen to him every day and enjoy him mightily. Try headphones.
Do you not realize that he’s nuts, or is that part of the enjoyment?
Heard through headphones, he no longer sounds like a bigoted, liberal-baiting, Hannity-fellating, faux-“Libertarian” right-wing propagandist tool?
Noise-cancelling, indeed.
Oh, is that him? I may have him confused with the rabidly insane, racist, “birther” whacka-doodle.
I admit I haven’t listened to Boortz in a couple of years, since discovering the sweet, sweet relief of podcasts. An item on his Web page from December 2008 says he agrees with David Horowitz that birthers should “shut up,” though, so I presume it isn’t he.
He does think the Obama Isn’t An American Citizen folks are nuts. He’s also pro-choice. And since I found Dave Ramsey on a rival radio station, I no longer listen to Hannity.
Wow, is that the requirement for being credible now in Rightwingnutjobland?
“Hey, this guy actually believes the President is a US Citizen. In your face, liberal critics!”
Some Boortz comments:
“That wasn’t the cries of the downtrodden. That’s the cries of the useless, the worthless. New Orleans was a welfare city, a city of parasites, a city of people who could not, and had no desire to fend for themselves. You have a hurricane descending on them and they sit on their fat asses and wait for somebody else to come rescue them.”
and
"It’s Ramadan and Muslims in your workplace might be offended if they see you eating at your desk. Why? I guess it’s because Muslims don’t eat during the day during Ramadan. They fast during the day and eat at night. Sort of like cockroaches. "
There was an interesting piece on Bill Moyers about right-wing hate-mongers the other night, and they showed Boortz saying that stuff.
It’s amazing how little publicity it got, compared to Ward Churchill’s “Little Eichmanns” comment about the WTC victims.
That damn liberal media.
Ughh…the all day thing…
I cant stand most talking heads. Liberal, conservative, whatever. Even when I dont agree with them, they at least they often have IMO a point worth debating.
The problem is this for me . They. Harp. On. That. One. Point. All. Day. Long. (if not for weeks or months).
They are usually like daytime tv soap operas. Tune in for 15 minutes once a month and you’ve got all the content covered !
These comments seem less to reveal any particular political philosophy, and more to simply be the rantings of a world-class asshole.
This is it for me also. I don’t want to listen to someone harangue me all day long. Music is much more soothing.
You’re not supposed to listen all day. Talk radio is supposed to be listened to for twenty minute stretches on your commute to work or home. Even sports talk. Anything more than that is get-a-life territory.
The hosts are repetitive because they’re trying to reach a *different *set of listeners every twenty minutes.
Do cockroaches fast during the day? That’s not even entomologically correct is it?
It seems like I’ve seen a lot of posts from people who have to live with all day, every day right wing radio in their workplaces. I don’t know how they can stand it. I can’t even listen to Air America for more than 5 or 10 minutes a week. Couldn’t this be an HR issue? Couldn’t it be argued that it creates a hostile work environment?
I would at least give a lot of loud, verbal rebuttals during the shows.
The anger-talk listener doesn’t want to be soothed. He (and it is usually a “he”) wants OT1H to feel confirmed in his politics, priorities, and worldview, and OTOH to keep his RO simmering, because it distracts him from the contradictions his beliefs imply.
For some reason, talk radio seems to be big with CAD technicians, IME. At my old workplace the technicians worked in a large ‘cube farm’ type area. You could always hear Rush bellowing away in there.
When my daughter worked as a CAD technician for an engineering firm a couple of years ago, it was the same. She worked in one small room with two other technicians. One had senority and kept his radio on talk radio all day. She and the other guy wore headphones to drown it out.
Beware of Doug: That’s kinda sad.
they wanna turn their TV’s on CNN OR NBC OR ABC or any of the major news outlets and hear how goodie goodie Hussein is doing.
They dont want facts, they want to believe what they want to believe.
thank g_d we have people like Boortz who stand up to the criminal, liberal media and tells Americans whats going on, but good grief, he “offends” some people, or some just cant accept the truth, or more than likely, dont care.
the pussification of america continues
