Neat Christmas tree decorating ideas...

I just stumbled upon a neat thing with our tree…bubbles.

I got this package of touchable bubble solution at the toy store earlier this year. I guess it has some hardening chemical in it or ??? that allows the bubble to ‘harden’ and lasts forever. You can really touch them- they almost feel like a gel. Here is one site that has them. Anywho, I stood back from the tree about 6 feet and blew the bubbles over the tree- it looks cool! There are bubbles ALL over it! They sparkle in the lights while sitting there…I’m hooked, this is the tree decoration for our family.

We also slice up oranges cross-wise and hang string them up (some sort of Czech tradition).

Whaddaya do?

Can you post a picture of your tree? I’d love to see what it looks like! It sounds very cool.

Now blow a bunch of them onto your dog’s rear end, have him back up to the tree and take the pic you’ll be sending out to friends and family.

Actually, the bubbles sound really cool. Finally, unbreakable Christmas ornaments.

My first year having my very own tree, I had practically no Christmas ornaments to put on it. So I hung my seashell collection on it! I also used my pendants from necklaces and Christmas cards I’d received, and pictures. I even used a big starfish as the star on top of the tree, using thread and paper clips. It was low-budget, but still beautiful.

Happy Holidays, y’all.

Our local grocer was selling little trees made of rosemary. Yes, the herb is apparently an evergreen. I was thinking of buying one to use the herbs, when I got a helluva idea on decorating it.

I bought it, went home and knitted a bunch of little red and green baby booties that I put on the tree. I have it on my desk at work, complete with the “rosemary tree” label. Whenever anyone comments on it, I tell them it’s my holiday tribute to “Rosemary’s Baby.”

My SO’s son did a great tree last year. I was laid up with a broken leg, and my SO didn’t want to deal with a tree, but his then-18 year old went and got one. He’s won quite a few belt buckles in roping and rodeo, so he put them all over the tree, and made a garland out of an old rope. It was very cowboy, and very cute. His aunt has since made the garland, tied with red bandanas, a yearly thing.

You could always do what we did here, hire 15 local Muslim, Iraqi workers to decorate your 50 ft. tree. For never having done this act before, they did a hell of a job.

My old roommate used to put his rolled up BA diploma on the tree. He joked that it was his most expensive ornament.

Kalhoun, A) I don’t know how to post to here (if one can at all) & B) I have a 12kbs connection…yes, you read that correctly, 12. Old commie phone lines right now, but the cable company says it will be installing in this area soon. Maybe I’ll take a low-k jpg and email it to you tomorrow.

Ghanima, that sounds great! Really cool idea! We have a few shells from a trip that we could use too.

My daughter made a holiday gift type decoration from a glass building block 4" x 8" x 8.“from “Lowes.” A carbide core drill from Home Depot Tile Dept. to cut a 1-1/8” hole in the short side. A fifty rice grain light string and a few yards of 1-1/2 to 2" wide wire edged red ribbon, and a hot glue gun with low-temp glue stick.

Drill the 1-1/8 hole in the center of the 8" dimension and to one side of the center rib so it can be covered by the ribbon.

Stuff the string of lights inside and secure the lead to the plug with the hot glue. Glue it sufficiently to prevent it being accidentaylly being pulled loose.

Wrap the ribbon around both directions and tie securely. Make a nice big bow from the same ribbon and tie securely .

Tack the ribbon at each place on the sides near the top and bottom of sides and each of the four conrers where it crosses itself on the bottom.

Add a sprig of greenery or other decoration and place under the tree. This also makes a neat centerpiece for a holiday dinner table or on the porch outdoors.

Happy Holidays!

It’s like the engineers say; “Whateever turns your crank.”

Sometimes the decorations you make yourself are better appreciated that the ‘store bought’ stuff.

You can make it and no one else can buy anything close. Yours is unique!
