We decided that it was just too much effort to put up a huge tree this year. So I bought a tabletop tree. It’s so sweet! It looks like Charlie Brown’s tree, including needles falling. Heh.
It only took me 45 minutes to decorate. One string of lights and all my “special” ornaments. I’m going to get a new tree topper, and some icicles today.
We did that this year too. It’s about 2 feet tall and conical. DeHusband call it the Christmas Tumbleweed.
It fits on top of my CPU and I can put presents around it this year. I guess we were being literal when we said we were having a small Christmas this year!
We had a tree on the table top last year, and we’re doing the same thing this year. With three cats, a dog, and a toddler, I’m not about to be picking crap up off the floor that they knocked off the tree every time I turn around.
What’s funny, though, is how we came about the tree last year. We started out with the regular 6 foot (fake) tree, and before it was even decorated, the cats were everywhere. We had I think 5 cats then. So I yanked the top part away from the rest, stuck it in a fat green vase, and put that on the table. A few well aimed shots with the water gun, and we had a merry Christmas.
This year, though, we got one of those fiber optic little mini-trees, so it won’t be such a bitch to get it standing up straight. Although the cats have taken to sleeping on that table…oh I don’t know what I’m gonna do. :smack:
The library on my campus has placed two halves of a fake tree in different locations. The top half looks like a mini tree, properly shaped and all. Elsewhere, the bottom half is… well, “Christmas bush” is the only way to describe it I guess.
