Need a drink recipe, where should I look?

I plan on making some type of punch for a party, and I want to find a really good recipe. I found drinknation.com which has a handy feature that lets me put in all the ingredients I have and spits out recipes based on that list. I seem to recall some sort of virtual bar that did the same thing, and had more recipes (virtualbar.com wouldn’t load, so I’m not sure it still exists). Anyone know of a similar site with lots of good recipes?

I guess I could list my ingredients for you guys too, maybe someone has a recipe in mind. I’m looking for something similar to jungle juice, very strong, possibly without the fruit.

I have on hand:

151
Tanqueray
Smirnoff

Grape Juice
Orange Juice
Sunny D
Fruit Punch
Hawaiian Punch
Sprite
Cherry Coke
Orange Soda

Crushed Ice
A 2 gal. container with a spigot (hence the no fruit idea)

I’m thinking I might be able to pour in all the liquor, a soda or two, and a few juices and it might turn out ok, but I’d rather not make something that tastes nasty and waste the booze. What do you guys think?

It does, http://virtualbar.com/drinkrecipes.html
There’s http://www.drinksmixer.com/ but you need to register to use the “My Cabinet” page.
http://drinknation.com/bar.php has a huge list of ingredients (hold the control button and click on what you have, then click “Add selected ingredients to my bar”).

CMC fnord!

Cool, thanks. It seems that virtual bar isn’t quite as good as I remember though. It kept giving me recipes with stuff I don’t have, or ever will.

Maybe I can make some sort of modified Hurricane with my ingredients, we shall see.

I’d go for the Smirnoff and/or Tanq + OJ and/or Sunny D. It’s basically a Prohibition drink. (ISTR that gin + OJ was called a “Golden Blossom”, and of course vodka + OJ is the “Screwdriver” that you know and love.)

FWIW, if you add a dash of Cointreau to either of the above, it makes it a lot more palatable; the orange liqueur smooths the transition between the base spirit and the OJ.

or if you wanna go a bit cheaper than cointreau, use triple sec. of course, if you feel the need to go upscale, use grand marnier. (they are all basically the same thing, give or take some alc/vol.)

or you could just make whatever flavour of punch you want, and dump in a pile of vodka. (i would not reccomend smirnoff, but that is up to individual tastes.)

The perfect solution: Drink recipes: 32000 mixed drink alcohol cocktail recipes

Click on “Enter your ingredients,” and you get a checklist where you can tick off what you have. Then push the button, and out spits a huge list of drinks you can make with what you have.

Well, never mind, I see now that Virtual Bar is one and the same with Idrink. :smack:

Whoops, make that “Orange Blossom”.

Most of what you have on hand will not work well for a party punch, IMHO.

The best punches are the Caribbean ones, and they are all endless variations of a theme:

One part sour (lime or lemon juice or both. Experiment)
Two parts sweet (triple sec or Cointreau. Some simple syrup and water will work in a pinch)
Three parts strong (rum - I like Don Q myself. Light rum should predominate, but you can add a hint of dark or spiced)
Four parts weak (fruit juice. Orange, pineapple, passion fruit, or blends of tropical fruit juices)

Chill with ice and add a little bit of nutmeg.

You will not need to buy much to make this work. Just some light rum, some limes for fresh lime juice, some pineapple juice to compliment the orange juice you already have, and triple sec or Cointreau.

I like Webtender.

BTW, I used to not like drinks like this. I found them way too sweet.

Then I went to the Caribbean and South America in the Navy, and also vacationed there a couple of times, and learned the right way to mix them up.
