Need a good wedding song dance for me and my mother

I am getting married November 24th. Woo hoo!

But my fiancee and I are having the hardest time coming up with a good song for the mother/son dance. It should be something sweet, but not mushy.

Any suggestions from the teeming millions? I would appreciate it!

First of all, congratualations! Okay here are two possible choices:

I Hope You Dance - LeeAnn Womack
Stand By Me

Those are the two I’ll be choosing between for my Daddy-Daughter dance.

Whew! Based on the title of the thread, I was gonna suggest Tom Lehrer’s “Oedipus Rex.”

Regardless of connotations:[list=1]
[li]Mondo Caine[/li]
[li]All of Me[/li]
Green Dolphin Street

What, no Sunrise, Sunset (From Fiddler on the Roof)? It’s a classic - the whole room will be sobbing.

Considering your user name how about Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult?

How about a country-and-western song about drunken infidelity and divorce?

Oedepus Rex by Tom Lehrer.

“He loved his mother.”

Howabout “Mother” off Pink Floyd’s The Wall Album? I think it’s PERFECT:

“Mother do you think she’s good enough/Mother do you think she’s dangerous/Mother do you think she’ll try to break my balls?”

I’m blanking on the words to the chorus right now, but I seem to remember “Mother’s gonna choose all of your girlfriends for you. Mother’s gonna keep baby, healthy and clean…”

Hehehehehehheheheheehe… Thanks OrcaChow and others… No, I am not marrying my mother… Got to make those thread titles less descriptive.

I am a huge Floyd fan, but I don’t think Mother is of the appropriate sentiment.

Thank you all for your suggestions! Anyone else? I could use a few more ideas.

“Through the Years.”

Mama by Boyz II Men it’s a really sweet song though I’ll have to get back to you on the lyrics.

Bebe

Every Step You Take- The Police

This makes sense if you’ve been reading the misunderstood songs/books/movies thread…

::flees::

How about “Everything I Own”?

Okay, first, congratulations, Grim. And the thought of a mother-son dance is so sweet. Sincerely.

How about ‘love can build a bridge’ by the judds? It’s pretty sweet… nice and slow… or maybe ‘the way you look tonight’ or ‘always’

I am drawing a sort of blank, and I am really usually good at thinking up tunes…

Well, one month ago today, I got married. The father/daughter and mother/son dance was Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable”. The original, mind you.

Of course, my mother’s suggestion was “Rock Lobster”. Go figure.
