Need gift ideas for a man: Cotton themed

On the 19th, I will have been married to my husband for two years. Yay!

Anyway, last year, my in-laws sent anniversary gifts to us - they all gave us paper themed gifts. I didn’t realise that each year actually had a specific theme - I thought it was only on milestone anniversaries. Anyway, the idea intrigued me, and I did some piddling around on the internet. I discovered that second year anniversaries are “cotton”. Neat-o.

At first, the idea of a themed gift for each other seemed kind of silly. And it still does, but we decided to do it anyway. We have a tough time buying for each other - there are so many things in the world my lover wants! Which shall I get this year? A little overwhelming. So, I said to my husband, if we do the theme thing, then it helps us narrow it down a bit; instead of: “Whatever in the whole world will I get for my lover this year?” It will be: “Whatever in the whole world of cotton will I get for my lover this year?” Makes it a little easier.

Or so I thought. I ended up getting him a really nice shirt of his favourite team: the Seahawks. Well… because of the Superbowl… aw, damnit, EVERYONE got him a Seahawk shirt! He now has a closet full of Seahawk themed shirts. ~sigh. So I gave him his gift early, so he could wear it for the Superbowl. He knows it was an anniversary gift, and he went through the whole, “Awww, that’s okay sweetie, oh it’s so nice! I love the Seahawks! You know I could never have enough, yours is just as special!” Yeah, yeah. So now, I’m not allowed to spend too much on his “new” gift.

What are some interesting, creative, cool ideas for a gift, preferably under $20 or so, that are cotton themed? And maybe manly. Ish. He’s his own person, but, you know, I can’t knit him a potholder.

I don’t mind making a gift myself, and of course, that would make it “special”, but it would have to be something he would use.

hm…to pick something from the entire world of cotton…
there ARE a lot of things, even stuff you wouldn’t realize…

sooo, to further limit it, give us some interests of his.

we could come up with a bunch of suggestions…i’ve got the feeling this thread is going to get technical…

oh…by the way…let me be the first to say that you should get him some stuffed smurfs…

…now that the smurf reference is out of the smurfing way, now we can smurf along with this thread.

If you want to spend a little more than 20 dollars but get a really great present, go for high thread count sheets.
My husband is now totally spoiled for bedding, but they feel sooooo good.
Another reason he’ll never want to be anywhere but in bed with you!

Another idea: a robe. Drachillix very much likes his heavy robe for winter and a light one in summer and it keeps him from scandlizing the neighbors.

Cotton candy? Might be cute. ‘Fresh cotten’ scented candles, lotions, shower gel?
Cyn, who loveds a theme

Really thick, luxurious towels – maybe a bath sheet.

Oooh, Cyn, I like those ideas! I know he’d like a robe… but the ones he likes are usually pretty expensive.

I like the cute “theme” ideas, he’d get a kick out of that - he likes candles, and he likes anything with a “fresh” scent… clean cotton is pretty fresh. They wouldn’t be “main” gifts, but I like the idea of a few cute little related gifts.

As for his interests, well damn. He loves sports, especially his home teams (Seattle), he loves movies, industrial/dance music, and his computer. He plays golf. He enjoys driving (seat covers are out of the question - he doesn’t like them). That’s why I’m wondering if I screwed myself with the “theme” idea - there’s not a whole lot of cotton ideas in there. However, he is very easy to please, and giving him a gift is certainly not limited to those non-cottony things.

I’d love a man’s input. Ever get something that was made out of cotton that you just thought was cool?

Sheets, towels, that kind of thing - that’s really my deal. If I got him any of those things, he’d figure (no, he’d KNOW) I bought them for me, not for him.

Don’t forget denim.

Some underpants? Silly boxers? Would he like those? My husband loves those terry jogging shorts, I get them for him now and then. He doesn’t jog, he just wears them around the house. A lot of places are holding white sales now…maybe you can find a robe on sale, as well.

How about some boxers, ones with silly love-stuff on them? Or a cushy thick plus white terrycloth robe, hotel-style. Sexy!

Darn! Lynn beat me to it.

And that’s *plush, not *plus

I personally can always do with more pairs of black socks. Also plain white cotton hankies.

a nifty golf towel, then.

if he hasn’t had a new one in a while, it’ll be much appreciated and used. could embrouder it, get a seahawks logo on it, or make a custom one of mickey mouse fucking minnie in the ass. whatever gets you going.

ooh…if you’re going to with golf…and you ARE in seattle…does he have a rain suit?
if not, get him a good rain suit. he’ll thank you every time it drizzles and he’s on the course.

yeah…unfortunately, that’s also the VERY pricey present…seeing as how we’re not trying to spend a ton.

Cotton candy machine?

Cottonmouth snake would probably only be good if he has a huge life insurance policy…

You could have your photos printed on cotton pillowcases…

Or a card that says, “put your cotton pickin’ hands all over me…”

How about a short sleeve polo shirt in 100% cotton in his favorite color? I know Lands’ End is known for polo shirts and they might have just what you want for $20.00.

Pajamas.

A glass container of cotton balls soaked in massage oil or sensual oils, along with a coupon he can “cash in” to receive a private sensual massage (from you).

Oh, and don’t forget to soak some in your pheromone cologne for yourself.

The finest quality, 100 percent cotton handkerchiefs you can find. You might even have them monogrammed.

I love these ideas, guys, thank you. Brightpenny, I like the idea of the massage oil! That’s a great personal kind of gift. Who wouldn’t love that?

I also like the hankerchief idea. I never would have thought of it, and he doesn’t use them now… but perhaps it’s because he never had any before. That’s one of those things he would think was a really good gift, and something he would never have thought to buy for himself. I mean, this is a guy who likes pocketwatches and expensive pens. Nice cotton hankerchiefs… that might be the ticket.

Thanks again, all!

And I managed to misspell handkerchief twice. Sheesh. What’s a hankerchief? :smack:

That’s almost as bad as spankerchief. Which, despite what most of you know about me, I sincerely hope he wouldn’t use his nice ones for.
