Need help with VOIP, routers, etc.

I’ve had Vonage for a while now and have been happy with it. I’ve currently got two separate phone numbers/lines and want to add a third and am looking for some guidance and clarification. I’m reasonable competent with computers, but nowhere near an expert. I know essentially nothing about configuring routers.

My current set up has two computers and two phone lines connected to the Vonage router, which is connected to the modem. To add the third phone line I need to add a second Vonage router. I assume I Can’t connect one Vonage router to another, right? So I’d need to have the modem connect to a router and then have the two Vonage routers connected to that. Right?

Should the computers connect to the Vonage router(s) or the main router?

Is there a particular type of router I should use?

Does any of this make sense? Are there any problems I’m liable to face doing all this?

Is this what you are looking for?

Without a model number for your router it’s hard to say how to connect it. Some of those routers are rebranded routers while others actually accept a phone line like a phone jack.

Thanks a lot eb! I’m not sure why I wasn’t able to find that in my googling, but it lays out the steps in a lot more detail than other hits I got. It’s first one to actually say that you can just plug one Vonage box into another (others talked about using an additional router).

I’ve got the Motorola VT2442, so it seems like I should be able to connect them together without a problem.
