Need songs about begging/pleading

In order to win some tickets from a radio station I have to put together 4-5 songs to go along with my theme of begging. The only two I can come up with right now are “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” (which is perfect) and “Cecilia” (…down on my knees, begging you please) which is ok but there must be better ones out there. The songs will be played on the air, so they have to be something an AAA or AOR type station would have in their library. Definitely no rap, hip-hop or heavy metal. Plain old rock & roll or blues would be good. Can all you kind Dopers help me come up with some more?

And before someone tells me that this isn’t original enough to win, there’s a story behind it that’s going to make it good enough.

Oh…what’s that song where the girl has all these people come up and ask to buy the tickets she has and the chorus is about how she worked 60 hours or something in order to make the money to buy them, but in the end she sells them? That would be a great one but I can’t think of the woman who does it. Might be, or sounds kinda like Suzanne Vega.

“Love Has No Pride,” Linda Ronstadt. It all begins and ends right there.

Please Please Please - James Brown

Well, it’s old, and not really rock, but what about “Won’t You Come Home, Bill Bailey”

Eric Clapton’s “Layla”?

The Beatles’ “Nothin’ Shakin’”?

The Stone Roses “Begging You”?

The Beatles’ Please Please Me:
Last night I said these words to my girl,
I know you never even try, girl,
Please please me, whoa yeah, like I please you.

Also, their Oh Darling!:
Oh, darling.
If you leave me,
I’ll never make it alone.
Believe me when I beg you,
Don’t ever leave me alone.

Cheap Trick’s I Want you to Want Me:
I want you to want me
I need you to need me
I love you to love me
Im beggin you to beg me

The Cure’s Boys Don’t Cry:
I would break down at your feet
And beg forgiveness
Plead with you
But I know that
It’s too late
And now there’s nothing I can do

Damn! Beat me to it on that one.

I Beg of You- Elvis Presley
Try Me- James Brown (Yeah, I couldn’t give up on him)
Please Accept My Love-B.B. King

I’ve Been Lovin’ You Too Long - Otis Redding

The Righteous Brothers, “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling”

John Denver, “I’m Sorry”?

Depeche Mode - One Caress

Derek and the Dominoes–Bell Bottom Blues, off of the same album as Layla. Whole lotta begging going on there.

Brother, Can You Spare A Dime? from the Great Depression Era is probably the most famous begging song I know of.

Every Breath You Take
THE POLICE

Since you’ve gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but it’s you I can’t replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep cryin’, baby, baby, please

“Beggin’ Bennie”

Beggin’ Bennie. . .
He’ll borrown anything you got:
A shoe, a lamp, a three-cent stamp or a coffee pot.
He don’t care what.
Beggin’ Bennie,
We’re glad there ain’t many like you.

How about that one by Someone Whose Name I Can’t Remember? Billy Somebody, maybe? It begins something like…

What would you think
I would give at this moment?

and the chorus has the line “if I could just hold you again” in it.

Sketchy, I know, but I bet someone will be along who knows.

There’s another song called “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by TLC. Shares nothing but the title with the older one.

How about “Ouch” by the Rutles?
Ouch, don’t desert me
Ouch, please don’t hurt me
Ouch, ouch ouch OUCH!

Brenda

Billy Vera & the Beaters, and the title is “At this Moment”

It got a big boost from a Family Ties episode.

Strong Persuader by Robert Cray.

It’s not about a guy who’s begging, but rather about how his, um, persuading skills broke up the marriage of the people next door.

Well, I guess that’s not what you’re looking for, but I thought I’d throw it in there.

Oh, THAT’s the name of that song… I heard Cray play that one a few weeks ago and really liked it. Thanks, Green Bean.

boobah, that’s the one! Thanks. Funny, I love that song, but I couldn’t remember the title or the group who sang it.

The Four Seasons - Stay.

Stay, just a little bit longer.
Please please please please please, tell me that you’re gonna.
Now your daddy don’t mind, and your mommy don’t mind…

(super high falsetto)
Oh won’t you staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay…
