Neighbor Using Dead Kitten As Driveway Decoration

I have a new set of ghetto-seasoned neighbors.
Whom i absolutely cannot stand. For many valid reasons.

But today, they have added a little more salt, to my wounds of discord for them. And im even more dedicated now, to get them out of here.

This morning, as I backed out to leave, I happened to notice a small black creature, lying still in their 1st parking spot (right beside their front door and in plain sight) So, i back up a little further to check it out.

Dead kitten. Completely in tact, with it’s mouth open, and only a tiny amount of blood coming from its nose. Dont know if they ran it over, or beat it to death. Either way, there’s a dead cat now decorating their driveway.

This was @ 730am
It’s now around 4pm, and ive returned home to find that it’s still there, roasting in the 90* heat, collecting ants and flies, while the chocolate bon bon queen, sits on her fat ass watching soap operas with the door open. I know these people hate cats… as they scream and run everytime they see one. So whether they will pick it up or not, is a mystery.

All of my sense tells me to pick this kitten up, and go bury him. Or at least wrap him in something and take him to the dumpster.
But I really would like for there to be some kind of lesson in this for them. Given all the other completely disrespectful bullshit they have put us through, since moving in.

If i were to go over there right now, Id probably end up in jail for assault. And maybe even for cramming this poor dead cat into someones face.

So Whats my best option, to ensure they know how unacceptable it is to decorate your yard with dead cats… and at the same time, not start a big verbal/fist fight?

As the owner of 3 cats, and a cat-lover, I find these neighbors of yours incredibly heartless.

I’d say, go over there with a dustpan or some such (to scoop it up) and a plastic bag (garbage bag will do). Pick up the kitten with the pan, and put it in the bag. If found or asked what you’re doing, just say that you were trying to be a good neighbor, since no one likes to find dead animals in their yard.

Be very emphatic about the no one part.

Then take the bag, tie it up, and give the kitten a decent burial. Your choice of where.

But could I suggest a tree? In a lifetime of owning cats, I’ve yet to meet one that didn’t like a tree.

Call the cops! Especially if you suspect them of killing it. Cruelty to animals is a crime, and the fact that they left it backing in the sun all day on their driveway looks fairly damning to them. I know you’re not interested in starting a fight…but what if this becomes a more regular occurance? If they hate cats as much as you say, it might be.

Kalliope

They scream and run from cats? okayyyyy

It sounds like you live in an apartment type setting. Go the landlord with the situation. Was it their cat originally? If so and they abused it, call the Humane Society type orginization in your area.

Well, its back to status quo now that taggert has been banned…

Damn! I have forgotten to not become drunken again!

Stick a dead shit through their letterbox.

Me, I’d be more disquieted by living shit

Ugh. Bury poor kitty. And then let them know.

I would move the kitten and bury it.

I wouldn’t call the police unless you actually saw them abuse/kill the kitten.

No, don’t touch that kitten; you have no idea what might be infesting the corpse now. Let a professional handle it.

Maybe they’re deathly afraid of cats? Just before I moved out of my parents’ home, there was this neighbor boy who was seemingly afraid of everything! After one of our cats died of old age, the other liked to hide in the neighbor’s shed, scaring the hell out of their son of course.

Call the cops or the board of health in your town. Technically it’s probably some kind of health violation. But if you rent, maybe it’s the landlord who will get in trouble, not the neighbor. But maybe the landlord will then get down on them.

In addition to doing that I would walk right up to those fuckers and let them know what you are doing. I would also relay some choice vitriol right at them. People like this should not be allowed off the hook, they will never realize the errors of their bone headedness and atone for them.

The wrong way:

Scoop dead festering cat off *THEIR * property, not mentioning it, and essentially inferring that their behavior is ok.

The right way:

Confronting them, asking them why there’s a rotting cat in the driveway, notifying them you’ve called the proper authorities, and calling them pieces of shit.

There’s the wrong way, the right way, and then there’s

ACE’s way:

Bury the poor thing, but take a picture first. Make sure you get a good one, with the house, and the number in the background.

Post the picture around town with this caption: Lost cat, have you seen him? Answers to “pancake.”

That should get them their due respect in the neighborhood, posthaste.

If it were me, I’d scoop up Kitty and dispose of him (corpses are germy and gross - if you get rid of it, don’t touch Kitty with your bare hands. Wear rubber gloves or use a shovel. And whatever you use, wash your hands thoroughly afterwards).

Unless I’d seen the neighbors abuse animals, I wouldn’t assume that kitty was murdered - I personally am afraid of dogs, and I don’t particularly like them, but I would never hurt one… Of course, I probably wouldn’t leave a rotten one in my driveway, either… Anyway, I’d be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Plus, they sound scary, and I avoid scary people.

BUT, if you did want to leave a little something less festering as a memento if your decision to dispose of Kitty, I’d suggest a little bouquet of flowers, or something (like you see by the highway where a car crash has occurred), with an “in fond memory of Mittens” card, left at the site of Kitty’s demise. If you felt like being gruesome, I like ** Ace ** 's photographic idea…

Kn(kitty lover. Heart broken now. Thanks a lot, ** brandiwine ** 's neighbors)ckers

My first instinct upon seeing the dead cat in the yard would be to laugh.

Are you certain they even know its there? Did they leave at all that day? What makes you so sure they did it?

I would think that my first intinct upon seeing you dead in the yard would be to laugh.

Kn*ckers while I agree with the majority of your post, I don’t understand why Brandiwine should have to do it. Its not her property, and I’m sure letting a cat rot away in your driveway has to violate some health code, so make them do it.

Yes! I’ve been waiting for a rebellious asshole to join the boards ever since I did! Finally, you’ve arrived! Ooo, ooo, now tell us the one about how we’re all drones following the governments orders, or how about we secretly support terrorism. I can’t wait! Is it Christmas already??

Ah, geez…damn quoting. I swear to god someone else musta snuck that backslash in there!
