No more mixture of Ques and Recommendations between my 8 year old and I! Now I can watch mature titles without gnarly covers showing up on my kids screen as recommendations and I don’t have to skip past all the kids shit to get to my own recommendations!
Aww…but it was a mild source of entertainment to see things in “Recommendations for Tamex” that I would never watch, but one of my other family members would. They add a lot more things to the queue than I do; I just pay for it.
We often do watch things together, though, so I don’t know if this is really necessary for us.
I only use Netflix streaming. There’s a “Just for Kids” mode, where it only shows the kid-friendly stuff. So I don’t have to worry about my preschoolers seeing scary images.
Unfortunately, there’s no “Just for grownups” mode, so I have to scroll past a dozen cartoons to get to my shows. (Well, except when I want to watch cartoons. :))
Yep. They are calling them Profiles and my account just prompted me yesterday to make one. I am the only one who uses my account but I can understand why it would be valuable to others.
That’s good news - my kids don’t want to watch shows similar to “Breaking Bad” and I don’t want to watch shows similar to “My Little Pony.”
We all like Mythbusters though.
My fiance complains at least once a week that I have “broken” the queue with all my horror movies. I never complain about all his really old super hero cartoons or 80’s action shows though. He is so happy that I’ll be able to make my own profile.
Am I doing this wrong? I can set up the two different profiles on my computer, but only the main one will show up on Roku and my ipad. Is there a way to toggle between the two on my other devices?
My desktop isn’t giving me a profile option. Nor is my Panosonic.
Hmm, nevermind. Not available on Roku or ipad yet. Bummer.
I’m really confused about this, since we have had two profiles and logins forever. But we have a 2 dvd at a time option - perhaps that gives you two? My wife’s selections never influence mine and vice versa.
They’ve had individual profiles for physical DVDs for some time. What is new is the profiles for streaming content.
It’s the internet bro, you don’t have to lie to us
Huh. I read this came with a price hike, as the old price was going to only be for one device at a time.
I got my individual streaming queue a few weeks ago. Haven’t streamed anything on it yet, so I don’t know if the profile was different.
Took them long enough. Now I can bring up Netflix in a room full of friends without them seeing “Recently Watched: Dirty, Nasty, Embarrassing Porn”.
Yeah, try watching “I Love You Phillip Morris” followed by “A Single Man” and see what happens…
How did you get it? Was there an e-mail message first or did the option just show up when you logged on one day?
