Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet

Ok, you jerks (and massive boredom, and some booze) have made me decide to give this a try, even though it looks terrible from the blurb netflix supplies…

Alright, I tried. The acting (or maybe directing?) was pretty awful. The story was…meh…does it get better? I can foresee betterness. There was prodigious blood and vomit spray which, as a gwar fan, I love. But man…I dunno. Maybe might try another episode tomorrow. Certainly not bingeable. Yet.

I watched the first episode last night. I loved it.

I just watched episode 4. I never thought I would say, “Please don’t eat the Principal.”

Why not? He doesn’t look tasty enough to you?

Yeah, that’s my feeling so far. I watched the first episode a few days ago based on the recommendations here, and I’m not feeling it yet. I’ll give it two or three more episodes and see if my opinion changes, but I just found it kind of boring.

It’s OK, but could use tighter writing, a faster pace, and better characterization / deeper characters to move it from fluff to substance.

If you want to see TO in a more “traditional” zombie flick, I would recommend catching him in the remake of The Crazies. Not an Oscar-worthy movie by any means, but it does have some really intense moments.

The wife and I watched 3 episodes last night. We got some pretty good laughs out of it; and she doesn’t usually go in for that type of stuff. We’re anxious to watch the rest.

The wife and I finished watching it last night, and we loved it. We have quite different tastes in TV shows; I tend to prefer comedies, while she enjoys more violent programming, so this was a good compromise for both of us.

The humor was right up my alley, and it doesn’t hurt that Drew Barrymore has always been one of my favorite actresses.

Just finished watching this the other day. My wife caught an error in the last episode that I missed. In California…

houses, especially new construction, don’t have basements!

I finished it up last night.

Season 2 is going to be hard to keep as light as season 1.

Actually, I was just thinking about Timothy Olyphant’s hilarious takes whenever Lisa was getting really touchy-feely with Casey, and realized that Lisa’s libido seemed really elevated.

I watched the first episode having no idea what it was while having dinner.
BIG fucking mistake.

Good show though.

I’m liking this; the premise is just goofy/outre enough to be interesting in concept, awful in execution, without it has good production values and acting.

Which it does!
After six seasons of Raylan Givens, I initially had a hard time wrapping my mind around Olyphant’s character and portrayal; that was over and done with by the end of the first episode.

I just finished it and loved it.

My favorite joke was the throwaway where the principal walks in eating a doughnut, and says “Someone threw doughnuts all over the front lawn.”

I liked it, but I thought some episodes were definitely funnier than others. I wasn’t a big fan of Timothy Olyphant’s manic performance; it seemed like he was trying too hard. “Hey, check it out – I’m doing comedy!!!” Obviously other people disagree, though.

I had the same reaction. Instead of being funny, they were just mugging for the camera and smirking at each other. From the other comments, perhaps it gets better, but I had to turn it off after 20 minutes or so.

I actually kind of enjoyed this. While there are a few rough spots, I was pretty amused most of the time. I think Olyphant does a nice job of playing just on the edge of sanity… and I kind of like his … introspective?? moments toward the end of the season. Looking forward to season 2.

Well crap, it’s been cancelled. No season 4. Season 3 ended on a pretty interesting (IMO) cliffhanger and now nothing?!
