Part of the problem is that I really have no idea what his point is. His post is logically incoherent, even upon a re-reading. But maybe, to be fair, he meant exactly this.
Is he being insulting to Australians, and the Australian convict heritage? -in which case, I have words to share with him.
Or is he drawing a satirical bow at jaybee’s logic?

It really was an excellent movie though, you should definitely see it.
Dave: I don’t think that going out will help you in seeing The Princess Bride. Rather, I suggest you stay in and watch cable TV until one of the networks shows it.
After thinking about it and puzzling over it, I didn’t know whether to be offended or not. There is certainly no reason for you to be contrite. Again, I’m sorry for my misunderstanding, and I’m grateful you’re being a good sport about it.
Perhaps we should turn this into a Pit thread to berate people who shoot off for no good reason.
