Was Fred Kwan (Tony Shalhoub’s character) a parody of a specific actor? I don’t go to conventions so I don’t hear the rumors. But is there an actor who has a reputation for showing up high?
Maybe I’m stuck in the '70s, but I always assumed the answer was, “All of them.” Or drunk, or both.

Saw the movie again last night, and it’s just as great as ever. Funny and exciting and touching in just the right proportions. One of my new favorite bits is when Kwan becomes the first human being ever to set foot on another planet… he yawns.
