I had a dream last night that I was hanging out with my two brothers, and we were riding the subway to get to a pizza place. We ran into an old friend and invited him to come along. He declined, saying he had never eaten pizza and didn’t intend to start now. This prompts me to ask, is there anyone who has never had a bite of pizza? Or, name a common food item you have never tried.
Ding-Dongs. And I don’t intend to start now.
I’ve never had sushi…altought it’s not that commen, it is certainly becoming more mainstream than before.
I imagine there are quite a few New Yorkers who have never tasted real pizza.
<ducks and covers>
I’ve never had lobster, and I don’t have much inclination to.
But pizza? Could not live without it.
Hedgehog.
Sorry, I seem to have overlooked the word common.
Sorry.
Go back to work Thill!
Do you consider raw oysters to be common? If so, I’ve never had them.
Never had lobster or crab or many other kinds of sea food because I absolutly loathe it. I’ve also never had pickled pigs feet or pickled anything but an actual pickle for that matter and you’d be amazed at how common pickled (insert various animal parts) are around here.
I’ve never had any type of seafood. The smell repulses me. I’ve also never eaten an orange because the smell is too strong for me. I guess smell is a big thing with me.
I’ve never eaten a sea pickle.
Ever smell a cow or where they grow mushrooms?
Yuck.
You don’t know what your missing with seafood though. Lobster doesn’t smell much though, FYI. Maybe give it a try if you feel up to it.
How on earth do you know?
I was going to say I’ve never had bologna, but on second thought, I think I might have. It’s in the BMT sandwiches at Subway, right?
I have definitely never had olive or pepper loaf.
I’ve never had plain yogurt. Or cream cheese. Those are pretty common.
A few years back.
Driving the kid and the kid’s friend, time for lunch, pull into a McDonalds. Ask the friend: “What do you want?” And he asks “What sort of stuff do they have?” “It’s McDonalds, hamburgers and such.” “OKay, a hamburger.” “What kind, a Big Mac?” Blank look..
He was about 12 years old, grew up in the suburbs, never been to a McDonalds and not a clue as to what they served. You’d think from TV alone …
As for me, never tried most shell fish (or at most once, like crab and lobster).
I’m one of those picky eaters who hate certain foods without ever even tasting them. And usually when I do taste something I know I won’t like, I’m usually right. I wind up hating it even more. But that’s just the way it works with us picky eaters. Picky til the day we die! (and it won’t be of choking on sea food either!)
<-- Picky eater as well. Never had a hot dog or any type of seafood. The hot dog may be more common, but living in New Orleans, I’m basically a freak of nature never having tasted seafood.
I’ve never had KFC or Whitecastle, even though there are both restaurants nearby.
That is just screwed up my friend. You have never had gumbo , Shrimp Creole , or any of the other traditional New Orleans foods. That is like saying that you live in Paris but have never tried a bagette. You live in one of the greatest food cities in the world. You should be really ashamed.
About the hotdog thing. Ever hear of a Lucky Dog.
I’ve never eated a strawberry. I’ve tasted strawberry-flavored dishes, but never an actual strawberry.
Also never eaten yogurt, asparagus, or olives. Picky eater extrordinaire, I be.
You have to eat asparagus because your reaction to it is of great interest to the SDMB.
Especially afterwards.
