A challenge that literally no one could do is the opposite of “fantastic.”
Challenges should not be “utterly impossible to pass.” That’s not a challenge, that’s a waste of time.

If it’s a Roadblock, sure. If it’s a Detour, then yeah, I think having one choice be incredibly difficult is fun to watch. YMMV.
Difficult roadblocks are fun to watch. Roadblocks that are impossible are not. If even one single team had actually gotten it, it would have been good, but since no one did, that means the task was fundamentally flawed.
Yep, I agree. Obviously not play tested.
I’m sure they did playtest it. I think the fact that the other task was right there led to quicker exits than if it had been miles away by taxi. Eventually someone would have gotten it if they stuck with it. But I still enjoyed seeing people pick the “cool” task and surrendering.
New observation - every leg thus far has had both Phil’s narration and the clue say “The last team to arrive… will be eliminated.” Did they announce that there are no non-elims this season and I missed it?
Well, in one case- TWO teams were eliminated.
Well, the Salt lake City duo was eliminated, and we were cheering!
I thought they were OK. Yeah, they kept claiming “We’re so slow!” when they’ve finished 3,2,1,3, but they seemed fine as a team and as a couple. Whereas Jonathan showed once again what a horrible husband and human being he really is. Seriously, Ana seemed like she had Stockholm syndrome - Jonathan’s treating her like garbage and being a whiny baby, and she’s chastising herself for it?
All that is true about Jonathan & Ana, but she is okay. He needs to go. They are now our “team to wish elimination on”. But Salt Lake city with their “we are nice- but we are gonna complain and carry grudges” and his “my wife, I think i will keep her attitude” was also annoying.
The episode here was pre-empted by severe weather coverage and I hadn’t gotten around to looking the results up yet. Sorry to see it wasn’t Jonathan and Ana getting eliminated. Maybe next week.
The Dubai episode was great to look at, but they really should have just put up a “Sponsored by the Dubai Board of Tourism” disclaimer. The challenges were pretty dull, no Roadblock at all, and the Fast Forward was just “First to find the orange car wins” - no chance for multiple teams to compete for it or anything. The only part I found exciting was in the previews for next week with a furious Jonathan behind the wheel of a car stuck in a ditch.
Wasn’t the electohydrafoilboogiesurfboard a roadblock?
And while it was a boring fast forward, the diving tank looked cool, though I wonder how many divers they normally allow in the tank
Oops, I had it backwards. Detour is a choice between 2 tasks, that’s what they didn’t have in this episode. Which is more interesting, because you always have teams wondering if they should switch.
Every time I think Jonathan has hit his bottom, he gets worse. He immediately started blaming Ana for picking the haystack task, because they didn’t find the bracelet in the first 10 minutes. Does he really think all these tasks are going to be easy? I wish he was still stuck in that ditch.
Otherwise, very good episode. Good tasks that took some work, the costumes at the demon-scaring ceremony were fantastic, navigation woes and teams getting lost for hours, etc. I know they’re all Americans, but I am saddened by the teams who didn’t know even roughly how many pounds were in 200 kilos. Funniest moment of the night was Mark saying “Good boy or girl. Whatever you are.” to the sheep he was currently milking.
I think we counted and it was like 5! times he blamed her for picking the wrong challenge.
Kinda sorry to see the brothers go, but as long as it wasnt the D&D lads (the “lost boys” we called them), we are okay.
Yep. I spend a few summers on the family farm in Sask, and I really think every American needs to spend some time working on a real farm. I did milk a cow, but never a sheep.
We do roll our eyes at the two/three teams that didnt know how to drive a stick shift- come on, you know in advance you are going on AR, practice a little guys!
Cool episode this time, challenges not too hard, and no one was eliminated.
It’s cool that all the challenges in Naples were food related. Apart from the mandolin, and only Jonathan and Ana picked that. And the part where the non-pizza makers were being given the “rejects” to eat was excellent.
Oh yeah, we were jealous.
