I must be a horrible disappointment to you. I suppose a lot of people are.
Oy vey, dude. I am not remotely a SJW and you are seriously coming off as a dick.
Gosh, now you have me in the grasp of your logic.
All of this is remarkable. I made a post about a new surveillance app that has serious implications for us all. Somehow people immediately jumped onto a comment about Grinder and decided that was the issue that needed discussion.
I made a wisecrack about Grinder and somehow that became an attack on people who have HIV Disease. This is a breathtaking focus on trivialities.
A fairly reliable rule is that if you have to repeatedly and petulantly explain why your joke was funny and wasn’t offensive, then most likely your joke was offensive, and wasn’t funny.
I have not explained why my joke was funny. I cannot imagine why I would want to. I explained how the new surveillance app is much like Grinder.
I made no appeal to logic. And I’m not just talking about the Grinder joke you’re defending like it’s your baby cub.
Yes, because they both concern proximity to people who “tested positive”, hahaha.
The part that is kind of funny is how proudly you recount in the OP what you perceive as clever snark in the dialogue with your boss, who is evidently no more impressed than we are by your leaden witticisms comparing COVID test & trace protocols to “edgy” stuff like gay hookup apps and satanic superstitions.
You know, I do think you are right. You are not appealing to logic. You are being emotional.
No Grinder does not (as far as I know) beep when it comes close to someone that tested positive. The new surveillance app apparently does something if you have come into contact with someone who has tested positive. Perhaps I was unclear.
In any case, please enjoy your outrage. I have to head to the office.
Tell your boss he has our sympathy as he hangs in there till 7 April.
Outrage. Ok.
Well, Paul, I wouldn’t wanna be in Saudi either.
Hey! Joking! /S
So you’re not only a piece of shit but also a coward. Why don’t you go back to Parlar.
Please do tell us how I am a coward. I have been on this board for over twenty years.
OK, I cop to maybe misunderstanding here. But to me it read that Paul thought that the Grinder app let the person using it know if they were near someone else who had the same app and presumably the same sexual orientation the user does and that both of them were interested in meeting others of the same sexual orientation, not that they were near someone who was infected with HIV/AIDS. It’s a proximity alert for letting the user know they were near someone they might want to meet, and he was comparing the proximity alert of Grinder to the proximity alert of the COVID app, which lets you know if you’ve been near someone who is infected.
It’s kind of a weird comparison, but I don’t think he was trying to imply that Grinder users are necessarily HIV positive. Comparing the COVID proximity app to the way that advertisers are now using proximity technology to target advertisements would have been a better one, maybe.
I agree with each word you said. The communication with other nearby phones is a technology that has long interested me.
I don’t buy it. People don’t “test positive” for homosexuality. They test positive for diseases, like COVID and AIDS. I’m not really hip to the jive of these newfangled apps but there must be something neutral that can be used as an example. Then instead of clearing things up he starts blabbering about Ronald Reagan and people being humorless pearl-clutchers and criticizing their writing style.
While I’m here will someone please explain what the fuck the point is of Paul’s mass shooting threads? I saw the one from last year and opened it because I didn’t understand what it was about and he’s just listing mass casualty events and calling himself “the Commisioner.” It’s creepy and pointless. Does he oil his own Glock (which I am using as a metaphor for masturbation, referring to the somewhat phallic shape of a handgun and the lubricant used to prevent chafing of the penis, just so everyone is clear on what I mean, since some people seem to have trouble with interpreting non-literal speech, Paul) while thinking about heaps of dead bodies or something?
Huh. I did miss that part of the exchange. Well, then, I got nothing. Following up
“It tell you if you have been near anyone who has tested positive.”
with
“You mean Grinder?”
certainly implies he’s saying that all homosexuals have HIV. That is offensive.
And my advice for Paul, which will likely be ignored again is:
“When in a hole, first stop digging”
Lol you still had to jump in and white knight tho didn’t you?
