I just became aware of a rock band called Village Green. Apparently they deliberately named themselves after the Kinks’ masterpiece The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society. Given that VGPS is my all-time favorite album, needless to say I’m intrigued. 
Anyone know anything about these guys? Their debut album came out this week, and it looks like they’ve released a couple of EPs as well. Amazon has sound samples but I can’t listen at work, so I’ll have to wait until this evening.
Sorry, this thread is the first I’ve heard of them, but I’m intrigued, and I didn’t want this thread to die without a reply. (VGPS is on my short list of albums I have absolutely fallen in love with.)
By the way, have you always been Autumn Almanac? Seems like I would have noticed that name before.
They’ve got a MySpace page with a few songs you can listen to. I’ve only made it through the first, but I like what I hear.

I had never heard of them either, but I love the songs on their MySpace page! I think I’m a fan now. They’ll be playing in my 'hood in October, I may go check them out.
P.S. I, too, am a Kinks fan and I definitely hear Kinks influence in this band.
