After each debate between Clinton and Trump, during the 2016 elections, Trumps’ numbers tanked. Everyone watched the debates and they saw, clear as day, the man was an idiot. Two weeks later, after continuous and prolific “explaining” by professional spinsters, the numbers were right back where they had been.
Put a man in a crowd, watching with his own eyes as a large group of soldiers fires on and murders a group of people, then expose him to two weeks of explanations of how what he saw there with his own eyes just ain’t so, and he’s going to tell you that it didn’t happen.
The current polls don’t matter, just how long and how continuous the flow of spin and propaganda is. You can get to any position that you want.
In Syria, Assad attacked his own people with chemical weapons and there was a huge Russian backed disinformation campaign to blame the attack on the White Helmets.
I feel like Putin is setting the table for something similar with this biolabs business.
Bingo. Mass murder of civilians soon to come, I predict. I think Putins endgame may just be suicide by worldwide thermonuclear war. “I am so powerful, I myself destroyed the world”
But the article says these are Department of Defense labs, so these are the heroes. And if it was on Alex Jones’ website, the article must have its facts right
Did he say he sees why Russia made the attack? Or did he say the attack was justified?
If you can get him to say the word justified, put a pious look on your face and say “Maybe you think the Russians are justified in attacking American bases. Me? I’m a patriot who loves my country and I would never say that foreigners was justified in attacking Americans. But I suppose you have a constitutional right though to say what you want. Just like Jane Fonda did when she was cheering on the North Vietnamese.”
I am positive - as certain as I’ve ever been of anything in my life - that the majority of respondents to that poll don’t actually know what a no-fly zone means. I would bet every last dollar to my name that most of the people who answered that they support a no-fly zone are under the impression that a no-fly zone is some kind of gentleman’s agreement between NATO and Russia that the airspace is off-limits, as if such a thing ever existed. They think it’s just some kind of honor-system thing - a bureaucratic asterisk on some official paperwork - I am utterly certain of it. They don’t know what it means.
Any reasonable person would be willing to give Hannity a pass on that one. The reporting on those planes is one of the most confusing things I’ve ever seen.
Hannity gets paid a helluva lot of money to - at least in theory - get it right, and not draw conclusions from things that aren’t known to be correct. If he can’t get a story about Polish planes to make sense and be correct, he could easily dedicate the segment to the latest culture war atrocity in the States.
It would be interesting to ask - in the same poll - if they would favor the US Air Force shooting down planes over Ukrainian territory, or making airstrikes on SAM sites in Ukraine. I suspect this would show your hypothesis to be correct.
If Hannity didn’t know what the fuck he was talking about, he should have asked a question rather than make an accusation. The reporter on her show really seemed to know her shit. For example, if I was shown to be completely wrong about those bio labs, I might have had some humility and, instead of accusing the current administration of being hapless fools (like myself), I might have said, “Can you explain what is going on with those Polish MIG-29s? I’m getting mixed reports and I can’t figure it out.”
In any case, I’m not about to give a conduit of Russian propaganda that has a prominent show on our most popular news network any break at all. Maybe, in this time of war, he should stop spewing Russian propaganda and stop dumping on the administration for false reasons.
And it’s starting to work. Here in Trumplandia, a more or less solid support for Ukraine is starting to falter with the idea that maybe Russia was justified in their invasion if Ukraine was developing bio-weapons.
It’s always sold as a possibility, but as long as that possibility exists, it creates doubt. I’ve heard the formulation, “Well, if Ukraine was developing bioweapons…” verbatim twice this morning already.
And this is why Vladimir Putin thought he could get away with his Ukraine adventure.
With a right-wing media environment primed to trust him and distrust whatever comes from a Democratic-run government, he could start putting up whatever his propaganda ministry thought might work, and then - if it doesn’t work - pivot in real time to the next thing they can think of.
Meanwhile, Urkraine’s and the West’s ability to reach his populace, who are primed to believe nothing - including what Putin’s government says, has been significantly degraded. Ukraine has played the information war perfectly up until now, but as we settle in for the long siege, Putin’s going to keep working on our fifth column.
And, conservative media, traitors that they are, are going to lap it up and send it out to their loyal viewers. Our most popular news network is basically Tokyo Rose. It’s disgusting.
Of course the Russians attacked Ukraine to prevent dangerous biolab releases, which also explains why Russia attacked the Chernobyl nuclear power facility.
Hannity and Carlson are brave Truth Warriors who expose what the MSM refuses to tell us.
