New Diplomacy game - who wants to play?

Should be interesting to see how Austria and Italia get along as neighbors.

I just looked it up, and Austria’s email address is mcgready@schoultzfirm.com.

Shibb you just made my list.

Don’t read too much into that, Abe. I would actually lay even money that you two are the first ones at each other’s throats. I know that if I ever get one of my friends into an on-line game they would be the one I’d trust the least. It’s serendipitous that you were assigned countries that could allow you to go either way. I didn’t mean to imply collusion. I apologise if that’s the way it was taken.

I was kidding too. I prolly shoulda used a smiley, but I feel they are the devil’s plaything.

Italy and Austria can be very effective when played as at least neutrals. Although if you and WL pounce on him together I’m sure as hell gonna back him up, 'cause I know I’m next. You should have fun with Russia. There’s a lot more options than Turkey (my least favorite country to play)

Oh joy.

Oh well, I should play it at least once and give it a chance to confirm my suspicion that it’s boring and powerless.

So Dave, are we gonna get a website up? Should we also start a new thread for this game?

Hmm, Shibb, you’re Turkey in 1040 and Russia here… wonder what I can glean from that. Hey, at least we’ll actually have something to talk about in this game.

My email is on its way, O GM mine.

At least as Turkey and then Russia my moves/countermeasures are all in the same sphere. It might be a tad disorienting for me were I to have drawn England. On the other hand it probably would have lessened the possibility to mix the two up.

Hat jemand die Kaiserin kürzlich gesehen?

The Empress had to go to work, but is nonetheless monitoring this thread. We have already wriiten to Weirddave.

what? I work midnights, there is no accounting for me.

Can I request an extension until maybe Thursday for the first turn. MacGee has been having trouble getting onto the boards, and is only now reading the rules. I also may or may not be very available this weekend. I like RT’s idea of long negotiating periods on the first turn, or maybe two, since I don’t know who the heck some of you guys are. I also like the idea of the year a week schedule.

Abe Babe, could you at least let us know MacGee’s e-mail so that we can establish initial relationships with him? Only thinking in your friend’s best interest of course. Unless we all intend to dogpile the new guy, and that scarecly seems sporting.

Yay, France! I haven’t played France in a long time…

Somehow I have been roped into this game, as Austria no less. I am Abe Babe’s friend, and MacGee is his take-off on my name.

The e-mail address AB listed is incorrect. It’s actually mcgready@shoultzfirm.com. You can e-mail me at this address, but it’s my work address, and I don’t check it often on the weekends. Better is ppg_shg@hotmail.com.

Looking forward to the game. Oh wait, the game’s over, I’m Austria.

A sig line, a quote and two email addys on his first post! Isn’t he something? Let’s give him a hand, ladies and gentlemen (and White Lightning)

:pinching his cheek:
“Whoooooo’s my big boy?”

Ummm. Never mind.

That’s harsh, Abe. I’m hurt, really.

And after how I stood up for you!

HAH! Abe used a smiley! He’s one of us now!

Dave, I’m away the 26th and 27th. Be warned.

Is this board always this infernally slow? I’m having a real hard time accessing.

ppg - it sure is. It’s so slow, in fact, that although you already have two posts in this thread, the hamsters are showing your post count as 1.

Yes it is often this infernally slow. Better in the early AM and after about 6 pm, Eastern time. Shows you what we do at work all day. When we’re not Dipping, that is.

However, we put up with it because the company here is excellent.

Now that you guys are past the recruiting stage and are ready to start Dipping, feel free to join us over at the Doper Diplomacy - Fall and Winter 2002 thread. I’m sure we can handle two games’ worth of heckling there!
[sub]Or start your own thread if you want to snub us. Go on, we won’t care. We’re used to it. ;)[/sub]

Is there a corrolary to Gaudere’s law that if you sarcastically praise someone else’s coding you will mess up your own?
