They’ve cast the new Doctor Who Companion, Rose Tyler, according to this BBC story:

I know nothing about her, so is this good, bad, indifferent? The description of her as a ‘former pop singer’ had me suddenly thinking shades of Bonnie Langford :eek:

I’ve seen my share of Dr. Who episodes over the years, and I don’t recall “acting” ever being a requirement for one of the Doctor’s companions. This young lady will look just fine in a skimpy outfit which is pretty much all the role really requires.

I believe he may be concerned that she will sing. I saw her acting in the recent Canterbury Tales adaptations, and she … wasn’t abysmal.
I hope the new Doctor takes off the Jesus beard.

I really rate Christopher Ecclestone as an actor. Hopefully, he will make such a good job of the role that we won’t even notice the black hole caused by the level of sucking created by Billie
I too saw her in the recent Canterbury Tales adaptation and she wasn’t bad at all.
Give the youngone a chance I say. Yes she’s married to a prick and she was a pop princess but if she can act she should be able to carry it off.
She’s quite cute as well so she’ll be easy on the eye.
Also remember this is Doctor Who we’re talking about. There have been terrible terrible actors on it in the past and there will be in the future.
