Quick question for Doper advice…
I purchased a big (rather expensive) chair made of polyurethane. Turns out, it emits an odor that causes a headache and some nausea/stomach discomfort and just a ‘not good’ feeling. It’s not overpowering, but the smell is distinctly there and it permeates and is quite strong. I understand that polyurethane and PVC can emit fumes that are toxic. Is this furniture still worth keeping around (it’ll improve), or should I just cut my losses?
If you have an unused room you can put it in for a while, leave it there with the windows open. Better yet take it outside for a while. In my experience items with a strong smell like that eventually lose most/all of the smell.
Thanks, I now have it on the balcony.
It is really triggering nausea!..
