Wow I was really surprised I didn’t see even one thread about this recent anti-semetic shooting at an Orthodox Jewish grocery store in New Jersey. Seems like this had the potential to be a very large mass shootings but the cops were able to stop it before too many people died.
Honestly I expected the perpetrators to be some white, skinhead bro Nazi types, turns out it was some Black Israelites, nice to see more diversity happening in the world of mass shootings and hate.
I know I’ve heard of the black Israelites before, are they all over the country, or just in a few areas. I keep reading there is a lot of tension in certain areas up North between Orthodox Jewish enclaves and surrounding residents, anyone love nearby that has experiences?
Unfortunately, mass killings in the US, even ones driven by racial/ethnic/religious hate, have become so common most are no longer front-page news.
Yeah, they’re BLACK skinhead bro Nazi types. Although the Southern Poverty Law Center has repeatedly said this is a fringe group of Black Hebrew Israelites on the extreme of that crowd and most are not prone to violence. Well, OK, but the movement strikes me as being both separatist and black supremacist, so I view them as race-flipped white supremacists, most of whom don’t go around shooting other people either but still are folks I don’t want to live next door to due to viewpoints and beliefs I find repugnant
I don’t live in that particular area, but I have lived near an Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. Yes, there certainly can be friction between highly observant Jews and their neighbors. A little googling will reveal that friction between highly observant Jews and their neighbors in the New York City/New Jersey area goes back a long way, and a kosher grocery store is certainly a place to find Jews if you have mayhem on your mind.
White supremacists tend to get more press attention, but black separatist/supremacists have roots back to the 19th Century in the US.
