New McCain Doctrine: Preemptive lying

Yes, it does. Your consumption provides jobs, and your investments provides jobs. That’s the value you add - as a money through-put. From what you’ve said, that’s it.

Living here in Pittsburgh, I can tell you a damned few things about Teresa Heinz Kerry, and maybe people SHOULD be thinking about her and the rest of the Heinz family. (And the Rooney clan, for that matter, if we’re going to be talking about wealthy Pittsburghers!) The woman grew up the daughter of a medical doctor in Mozambique and often went along with her father on his visits into the African bush, so I think she’s seen how the other half lives. Perhaps it’s a blessing that Senator Heinz is no longer around to see how his party treated his widow when her second husband ran for president.

Rand Rover, I haven’t seen ignorance this staggering at the SDMB in a long time. When you find yourself in a hole, and all that jazz.
(And before you give me all that tired bullshit about facts vs. opinions, you ARE aware there are such things as informed opinions, are you not?)

This is hysterical. McCain caught red-handed. I hope this plays in every market, every hour until the election.

Read the comments. Many people are saying that the ad is confusing and whiny, and I’m inclined to agree. It could have been done smartly, but it wasn’t. One commenter pointed out that just switching the bit with McCain speaking to the camera to the top of the ad would have been much more effective.

Horrible ad. I had no friggin’ idea what I was looking at.

That ad stinks! What the fuck is that mumble of “Obama” over and over, fer cryin’ out loud! What is this, post modernist irony? In a political ad? My dog could write a better ad than that, and he’s drunk half the time.

Plus most dogs don’t type all that well, what with paws and all.

The point is that McCain’s ads aren’t talking about what McCain would do, they’re talking about Obama. I think Obama’s ad is a bit better, but I do like the clip of McCain at the end. I think the headlines at the beginning of this ad give plenty of context, though.

Think of it as basically pointing out that when it comes to political campaigns, McCain has gone Jan Brady: “Obama Obama Obama!!!”

Atheist?

I thought that traditionally all Lawyers were in league with Satan?

I’m a Limey and am genuinely not trying to make any sort of political or personal comment but being a Limey I’m not totally Au Fait with the U.S. political process or even the etiquette involved so if I’m making some sort of dreadful social gaffe I totally apologise andI hope that you dont just ignore me but let me know if I have so that I dont put my foot in it in the future.

All of a sudden out of the blue a poster that I’ve never consciously noticed before starts posting on exclusively electoral subjects and is also a highly paid Lawyer.
From movies that I’ve watched I understand that the legal proffession is a major source of U.S. politicians and I would assume their campaign apparatus.

(When of course they’re not dancing naked around bonfires at midnight and sacrificing virgins and whatnot)

So would you be a dedicated campaign worker?
If so would you be paid or unpaid?
Would you be assigned to a specific M.B. or a range of M.Bs?
Or would you pick and choose your own?

Do you address all electoral threads or are you assigned/confine yourself to specific topics?

I used to enjoy the West Wing so if you are actually part of that process it would be well interesting, but of course I could be barking up the wrong tree all together.

If my questions are intrusive or overly personal I apologise totally.

I am motivated only by my curiousity about the American campaigning process and nothing else, on this you have my word.

Indeed.

I think that I’ve just proved the premise that the human mind will always see a pattern within random data where none exists:)

Pity though,it would have been interesting.
